I'm glad he played so well and was so accurate. It was getting rather annoying hearing analysts go off on him and practically bury his career before he played a game. I'd love to see him run a little more, but those type of decisions will come with experience. I'm very encouraged by what I saw (especially his poise) and am looking forward to watching him learn and grow.
I'm impressed. 422 yards for a rookie in his first game is quite a feat. Disappointed they lost, but things are looking bright for the moment. Plus Arizona I don't think is going to be the god-awful team they were last year.
Call me crazy, but I think the Panthers will upset GB next Sunday, and I think Newton will outplay Rodgers (though I think both players will have great days).

Before last year started, I made a bet with my roommates. One thought Roethelisberger (Steelers fan) would be the NFL MVP. One thought Manning (Colts fan) would be the MVP. They laughed when I said Rodgers would.
This was back when nobody thought Rodgers was the shit. Of course I was wrong, but he did get the Superbowl MVP so it's fine.
Cam was terrific yesterday. Very impressed with his accuracy, which was the big knock on him. He read the defenses well, and was poised under the fire of several blitzes by the defense. He threw the INT that was called off because of a roughing the passer call, and 2 plays later throws a perfect fade to Smith for a 27 yard TD. Poise and confidence. Far exceeded what I expected. It was against an avg NFL defense which threw everything at him to try to rattle him. What will be tough now is to do half that well against the Packer's defense. If he can complete 50% of his passes for roughly 200 yards, and throw at least equal the # of TD to INT in that game, I would be just as impressed with that as I was with the performance against the Cards. Have to wait and see. But I think most of the nay sayers have eaten a lot of crow the last 24 hours.
