    Default Amnesty question.

I am not suggesting we bring in Gilbert Arenas but I have a question in regards to Amnesty. Gilbert was just amnestied by the Magic and I was wondering if whatever team brings him on board has to pay for whatever is left of his contract? Does an amnestied players contract disappear?

I want Kemba to start but I am thinking it would be good to have some former star in the last stages of his career as a point guard on our team to mentor Kemba. Just a thought. That does not have to be Gilbert Arenas just any player who would fit on our squad and would be good for the team as a whole playing backup.

    Gilbert Arenas is due:

    $19.27mil
    $20.81mil
    $22.35mil

from Orlando over the next three years.

If we make the WINNING bid of, say, $4mil per year then this is how it breaks down:

    $4.0mil (Charlotte) + $15.27mil (Orlando)
    $4.0mil (Charlotte) + $16.81mil (Orlando)
    $4.0mil (Charlotte) + $18.35mil (Orlando)

The very few good ones (Billups) will probably ring chase, but if something decent in the twilight of his career who'd make a decent mentor comes along I'd be all for it.

Who would that be tho? I can't think of any that'd be amnestied.

he can't ring chase though. Teams bid for him, he has no choice in the matter and it's only teams under the cap that can

the great thing about it is this is the chance for the small market teams to stick it to the big market teams by offering more for players like billups so he can't just end up on the heat or lakers. then trade them later in the season for expiring contracts and a late first or second

Yah thx plowman. I missed the boat on that one.

Other than Billups tho, the only other PGs worth getting that could fall out would have to be in a Ronny Turief type situation. If it happens then put a bid in.

Why not take a chance on the gunslinger! That way we can deal Dj and have it all set for Kemba when he is ready. We won't have to pay all of his salary plus he can swing the sg postion with Kemba as he is a big guard.

Just read a snippet on guys not picked up in the amnesty auction that after the player clears waivers the salary from his new team is in addition to his old contract. If so that's interesting.
