Well, Boris' trade value just went wayyyy down. Getting benched does wonders for other teams.
If I'm Otis Smith (Orlando Magic GM), I would call Charlotte about Boris' availability. The Magic need another big man because Big Baby and Ryan Anderson are NOT back-up centers. Boris could give them some minutes there, but he also can give them a passer to create some offensive ball movement. Plus, he has an expiring contract.

not necessarily, gm's don't make decisions based on whether he gets benched on a team that is going for a high lotto pick and wants to play its young players. gm's around the league know exactly who boris is and what are his strengths and weaknesses. now, if he were avg a trip dub like he started this season that could drive it up a little as it would be obvious he is gunning for a new contract, but i really don't think his value changes all that much. expiring/tpe and late first or second round pick is what we can expect.
here is an interesting one from real gm. i would do the trade at the end in a heart beat. i would then promise odom a trade to a contender before the deadline. i would flip him for another expiring, tpe or take on 1 extra year of salary for a 2012 first rounder. if i were taking on salary i might need two picks or a decent first rounder (lottery). effectively, it turns diaw into dom jones, 2 picks (at least 1 first), expiring.
post from real gm:
Bottom line is, we won't part with anyone unless you want Matrix or Big Wood. We won't take on salary, though. And we won't part with any pick at all. As Odom himself is closed to pure expiring with a team option at the end of the season, I don't think it's a big financial burden. I have no problem if the pick coming back is only a second pick.
In this way, we'll get enough playing time to Brendan Wright, Ian Mahinmi, Yi Jianlian and Sean Williams to hit the rotation. They've all shown enough promises to make some serious PT.
Something around the line should be enough. Diaw, Najera, 2012 2nd for Odom, Jones, 2012 2nd
Put all the ideas here.

Shocker I know. The biggest line in there is that we won't take back a bad contract. Let's hope they stick with that one.@rick_bonnell Rick Bonnell
Yes, Boris Diaw is being made available in trade. But Bobcats wouldn't take back a bad contract to make a deal. I wonder about Suns.

I would trade Diaw for a ham sandmich right now... he sucks.
Maybe the Knicks would be interested after the hurting he put on them (when he was interested).
I doubt anyone will give us anything thats not a bad contract in exchange for Diaw. I still think he will have to be packaged with Augustin to get something decent. If they don't wanna go that route prolly just let him expire
I thought this was a decent idea.

Charlotte gets: Xavier Henry (NOH) and Randy Foye (LAC)
Los Angeles gets: Boris Diaw (CLT) and Trevor Ariza (NOH)
New Orleans gets: Mo Williams (LAC)

The Lakers need Diaw and DJ , just to be cotenders this year . Diaw off the beanch for Odom makes lots of sence, DJ would start over Fisher . They not taking on a bunch of salrey and we not either . Im thinking DJ and Diaw for Blake and LAs two first and trade exception works well for both teams . LA gets two expirings if they wish and become contenders again this year. Without much risk.
We take on two years of Blake , but i think he helps Kemba more than DJ could. The trade exception is dust again for us . But we have three first round picks in a very strong 2012 draft.
Thoughts i think it works for both teams .
Thanks Ammofan!
I actually would LOVE to keep DJ as our starting PG for a reasonable price and have Kemba come off the bench i.e. Jason Terry type....BUT if we have to trade DJ I really like the above mentioned trade idea. Not sure if the logistics work out but scoring two more first rounds and getting a solid mentor to Kemba would be enticing. Plus we might be able to turn those two late round picks into a mid to early first rounder. May just be a pipe dream but I like where your head is at Dav7z. I also think Diaw and DJ would be VERY helpful to the Lakers. Works for both teams.
