Default Myth of the fast pace Bobcats

We keep hearing this over and over, yet every time they hit the court its the same plodding half court sets that produce no good looks and end up with shot clock induced chucks. Silas has been preaching this run run run thing for almost a year now and its not there.

I'm hoping that we are just using the preseason to practice our half court sets, assuming the fast break stuff will always be there. Cause we arent running AT ALL

Lack of rebounding really hurts the ability to get out an run. The Tar Heels, for example, are the leading rebounding team in college basketball and it let's them get going.

I share your view Catnation. This mythical running cats has not been there. I think the reason is because we are not getting the TO's that we need. We need to force steals which will help us get out on the fast break. Or thats what i think, but your right, we have NOT been running

I think we also need quicker plays. We aren't a post up, slow paced, jump shot team. We have a team full of slashers that should come off screens and get to the basket quickly. I think if we do that...it'll open up 3's for guys like DJ, Boris, Carroll, Kemba, and Reggie Williams (you know..the only guys who can shoot on the team.

We failed hard when grabbing the defensive rebound. If we could actually grab it, and then quickly pass to the PG we can push the ball up the court. However we simply struggle with grabbing the rebound.
Also, there's lack of off-ball movement from players in my opinion, they need to be more active curling off screens and so on.

An up tempo offense has very little to do with the offense itself. Without a good defense and rebounding, it just isn't possible.

Bozzy, Golden State takes issue with that

Seriously though, Silas isn't known for his offensive imagination. Play-calling wasn't his strong suit with the Hornets or the Cavs. And really, do we want to do what makes this team as good as it can be?

yea, we were 26th in the league in PACE! last year, but considering we had Larry Brown as our coach for 29 of those games that's not too bad.

we were actually a really good defensive rebounding team last year - 6th in the league - but since we lost 5 of our top 6 defensive rebounders and are relying more than ever on Boris Diaw bringing down boards (13.6 drb% last year!) i'd say we're pretty screwed.

Golden State does manage to have a fast-paced offensive despite being the worst rebounding team in the league. i think the key is to take more quick/bad mid-range jump shots! (and force more turnovers... but how does one do that?)

Not having bigs in camp probably didn't help things either. Biyambo just started practicing, Diop is fat, and Lord Byron just got here. Once those guys get acclimated, I think we'll be in much better shape. Of course, that also depends on Tyrus returning healthy too.
    SOMEONE will pay for THIS!

Our defensive rebounding is killing our ability to get out and run, and our offensive sets are horrendous, seriously reminded me of the inept LB offense UGH.

I think Hendo is the next MJ. Clearly already a better player than MJ was at this point in his career. Maybe better than SJack. We'll have to see but, this guy looks like 2nd GOAT (behind Allen Iverson) material to me
