    Default DJ White

I must give a shout-out to the Bearded One, DJ White.
Wouldn't be playing this many minutes or starting with TT injured, but I really like him.
Won't be an all-star or amazingly productive, or put up huge offensive numbers, but he's very solid. Does the little things like screening and rebounding.
Plays tough nosed defense, not overly awesome defensively but puts in effort and gets excited when he blocks someone (look at his celebration vs the Bucks when he blocked a poor chap). Will probably slip back into the rotation when TT comes back, but gee he really gives good solid minutes when he's in. I am also amused by his running style

Also would like to say, my man Hendo really scared me in the two pre-season games, playing like a pussy, thankfully he's played a whole lot better and I may not get shouted out as badly with my comments on him averaging 20 ppg.

I agree, especially about White, and specifically his preseason play. It seemed his rebounding and out backs were coming at will. Though as I have been watching reg season so far, I feel like I forget DJ2 is out there. Hes not bad or anything, just always seem to overlook the guy.
I can't put it on him specifically, but our low and post defense was looking horrendous wednesday in the 3rd and 4th. Felt like lebron and Bosh were driving at Will. Now i know Lebron is Lebron, but there had to be something we could do!

Off topic, but in final seconds of heat game, does anyone else think we should have swapped out our guys for larger/defense players? Not sure how this would have aorked but it seemed that all we needed to do was stop Wade and worry about scoring later. And also, were we in the penalty then? Could we have wrapped him up with say 6 seconds left and forced them to re-inbound, or at least earn shots on the line?

Agree with you Johnny, should have been some defense for offense substitutions there. Either Biyombo or Diop should have been in on the last possession to come from the weakside and help Hendo on Wade's drive instead of either Diaw or DJ White. Especially knowing we were going to take a TO no matter what happened with that possession.

Someone needs to make a thread about Silas' rotations. They frigging suck.

I was very impressed with DJW's play, esp. in the 1st half. He was matched up against Bosh, but he played him about as well as could be expected considering the height disadvantage combined with Bosh's skill of the midrange, high shot he has.

He's not our ultimate PF, but he's certainly a strong 6th man.

I'm not fond of them, either. I was disappointed in his decisions late in the game last night. I can understand not wanting Kemba and DJ in at the same time for long stretches because of defensive concerns, but those last two offensive possessions? I think Kemba needed to be in there. Wouldn't have hurt to have Mullens in either. Kemba is a clutch guy and he along with Mullens sparked the late run that kept it close. I was really baffled as to why at least Kemba wasn't out there, especially with 2.9 left...no worries about defense there.

As for DJW, I love the guy as a back-up 4. He's just one of those "right-place, right-time" type of players, you know?

Kemba, as good as he is, hasn't been the most clutch player for the Bobcats for the past two years and happens to play the same position as the guy who is. DJ has iced plenty of games... I like Kemba, I really do, but lets at least wait for the guy to earn the spot before crowning him the new prince of Charlotte.

As for DJW, Silas playing his a center and guys giving him all the responsibilities of a defensive anchor during the fourth was doomed from the start.

I think we'll gradually start seeing more Biyombo/Mullens frontcourts as the season progresses. Each of those guys has improved in every game so far.

Do y'all think that DJW should get more minutes than Biyombo over the next 10 games?

Yeah, because Biyombo needs to learn to play solid on defense. He's being disruptive, but he's jumping on every pump fake and seems a little out of control. Its clear he has that defensive monster potential about him, but until he learns to control himself White is a better option.

Not really "more"...I just want Smack to consistently get minutes. Somewhere in the 15-20 range.

I'm a DJ White fan, very good roleplayer & I hope we lock him up longterm on a reasonable contract, I would have no problem if we started DJW over Tyrus when Tyrus comes back.
