    Default Well Played Tyrus Thomas

    13 points, 9 boards and 9 Blocks !

great game from Tyrus against the Wizards, he his starting to find his A game especially of the defensive end.

Mullens is a good scorer but to me he needs to be stronger with grabbing boards !

Agreed, there was little doubt that he played his ass off in a game that seemingly noone else showed up for. I was excited to see how hard he went after it at both ends of the court.

Agreed, he was a bright spot in an otherwise nasty game. We need to see a whole lot more of this.

I f he can bring it consistantly now. We would have a nice player . Busting ass wins me over faster than any thing on the court.

Salis should let his offence feed off his defence, By starting players playing that end of the floor. We 30th in the league at points scored against us in the paint. Boards the last two games we had a 20 board decefet
He really needs to go with a line up of Walker, Henderson, T Time , White , Smack . Play a zone if we have two but play tough . And keep them out the paint.
Mully is really soft and Doris don't give a damn, Higgins and Hammer has to get burn too. Brown is decent with the burn he gets.Right now i don't even care if he has to play some two.

Kembas legs are shot . We might need to really cut his mins be for he gets hurt to,

    Thanks Ammofan!

Ive always like Tyrus. I dont like the contract we gave him but he is still a young player developing. He just needs to learn himself before he can play within hisself. Just looks like at times out there he is trying to be something hes not. Sure he can guard Small Forwards but he in no way is a SF on the offensive end.

    Good game Ty Thomas.

I've withheld judgment on T Time this year, hoping that he could get healthy and show us what he can bring to the table and what he's been working on. But as time goes on, I think I'm coming to a conclusion about him.

Tyrus has all the physical tools to become a great player. I was excited to see him grow and develop here, but it's become apparent to me after looking at the totality of his career: Tyrus is a tall tweener.

That's it. He currently doesn't have the skillset to play any position offensively on the floor right now. Whether he ever develops anything further is up to him, but from what I've seen this year, it looks like he either doesn't want to develop them, or he thinks he's good enough as is.

    At SF:
    1) Nice midrange shot, but doesn't have the range out to the 3 point line that you need at that spot.
    2) Can dribble the ball up the court, but doesn't have the ball handling ability to break his man down and drive to the hole, or to get separation to get his shot off.
    3) Doesn't run off screens well at all for a catch and shoot, or doesn't know how to read spacing to find open spots to make a move.

    At PF:
    1) Doesn't have the strength to bang down low.
    2) Has an aversion to even post up down low. I know it's not the offense, because when DJ White is in, or Bismack, hell even Derrick Brown, they'll post and catch the ball on the block. When Tyrus is playing PF, he'll keep moving past the paint to post up 15 feet or so away, then reverse pivot or step back to get his midrange shot off. He doesn't even attempt to make a back to the basket move, no hooks, up and unders, drop steps, nothing. He just wants to shoot jumpers.

Two other things, he has bad hands, as I don't know how many good passes he's fumbled away this year (like 4 or 5 against the wizards), and he doesn't seem to believe in lifting weights. I swear, he's just as skinny as he was at LSU. It seems he wants to prove that he's not a power forward, but even perimeter players need to hit the weights too.

It's too bad, he could have developed into something like Antawn Jamison, who has a good shot out to the three, not the best ball handling but can get to his spots, and always attacks the boards. After 6 years, for him not to develop his skills or strength, I don't really think he wants it. He's good defensively, but that's not worth 8 mil a year.

Unfortunately, I agree that he might just be a tall tweener.

I have preached patience, for at least this season, on him for a while now. I still feel like we need to give it another month or so to figure out what he can be.

With that being said, if we could get anything for him prior to the trade deadline I would do it. If not, I am slowly coming over to the camp that thinks he might be an amnesty candidate.

I hope I am wrong and he finds his stride soon. 9 blocks is a good start.

there is no doubt that he needs to average 12 points or more if he's playing nearly 30 mins a game but he brings so much defensivley with his rebounding and blocking shots.

Tyrus is still garbage. This was against the Wizards. He cant even dribble. This is an anomaly.
