Default Who from our current roster would you like to still be here in 3 years?

The title says it all. We are rebuilding and look like a displaced mid level d-league team at the moment. I made a poll, but I would also like to hear reasoning behind choices.

3 years is a mighty long time.

I hope they all break out and become what we want them to be and they all take a discount to stay in Charlotte, but there's also a chance none of them take a big step.

...but that's not what you're after is it?

I'll go with Kemba & Smack, with a good possibility of Hendo & Mullens (the former has to get consistent and show he's not injury prone...the latter that he can be a man in the paint). The rest are probably close to if not at their highest potential or have negatives I doubt they'll overcome.

    So I voted those 4.

I'm gonna catch heck for this, but I'm gonna go with:

    Henderson
    Biyombo
    DJ White (underdog choice)

I like DJW's length, broad shoulders, and his combination of offensive skills (some post work and some midrange shooting abilities). Also, him being here in 3 years implies to me that we were somehow able to unload Tyrus's contract and give DJW the chance that he deserves over TT.

Kemba Walker is noticably absent. I'm biased in favor of length and size, including at the PG position.

This would be my response, but mine would probably smell better.

Well, mine smell like roses. Least that's what I insist to the kids.

I would agree with most of this, but think basing your opinion on measureables instead of how they actually play has been disproven so many times its not funny. Kemba is legit, and if he stayed in the starting lineup would be in the running for rookie of the year at the point guard position.

The notorious ESPN announcers said as much on a Bobcat game recap video earlier in the week.

Measurables absolutely matter as part of the evaluation.

Most nba superstars have average-to-outstanding length for their position. There are only two nba superstars who overcome poor length that I know of, and they both happen to play for the Clippers. But Griffin overcomes it with insane athleticism, while Paul has incredible skill and still some great athleticism. But Paul is an exception.

On top of being a volume, low percentage shooter, Kemba can't get a hand in any other shooter's face. Those are two serious deficiencies to overcome.

He and DJ have been some of the worst-shooting point guards in the league this year. They have to expend a lot of energy to get shots off over guys. That wouldn't be the case if they could simply take standstill jumpers over people a little more.

I like guys who can guard 1 additional position on a defensive switch off. Kemba can't really defend anyone once he is done with fullcourt pressure. The jury is still way out on him. He has just about the shortest standing reach in nba combine history and he turned Steve Nash into an interior shotblocker. When was the last time somebody did that?

Thanks for completely nullifying my comment by associating it with ESPN. haha.

and vetpicksetter. I guess we watch different games because Kemba is a pretty decent defender in my opinion. Granted I'm comparing him to DJ. I haven't seen any situations this year where Kemba looked too short or not long enough. I have seen a triple double and a developing player taking over for DJ and more than holding his own.

They are the worst shooting guards in the league, because they have to shoot constantly due to a lack of movement on offense I dont think it has anything to do with working harder. Kemba can get his shot any where any time, i dont care if he is 3'6" if thats the case. The jury is definitely still out, but he guarded Ricky Rubio extremely well Wednesday (outplayed him the whole game I think) and Ricky is 6-4. I agree with you that length is optimal, but I can't just erase what I am watching in front of my face. Kemba is legit.

and about steve nash. every dog has his day. you can't say one block amongst 3 dudes means Kemba will be an NBA failure.
