Major Free Agent Signing: PG/SG - O.J. Mayo - 4 years 36 million - O.J. Mayo is a perfect player for the Bobcats to sign as a free
agent in the 2012 off-season. In Charlotte he would get a lot of playing time and is the perfect combo PG/SG for the Bobcats. He
can be the primary backup for both positions and will provide outstanding 3-point shooting off the bench at 45%. He is a poor man's
James Harden.
2nd Free Agent Signing: SF/PF: Antawn Jamison - 2 Years 12 million - Jamison is still averaging nearly 18 points and 7 rebounds
per game. He is also a solid 3-point shooter at 35%. He has said he would love to finish his career in Charlotte and he as made enough
money to where he will cut Charlotte and M.J. a break to end his career at home.
That adds 14 million to the payroll for the 2012-2013 season. However, neither of those are long term bad contracts. You get Mayo
who will be a cornerstone of your franchise rebuilding even if you have to overpay a little bit he is worth it for the Bobcats because of
what he provides. Then you have Jamison who would be a great player coming off the bench for instant offense alongside Mayo.
That leaves you with 11 million still in cap space going into the 2012/2013 season!

2nd Round - 31st Overall - Festus Ezeli - 6'11 255 - C
Bring in Gerald Robinson Jr. - 6'1 185 - PG as an undrafted free agent. He is an elite athlete that has great ball-handling, penetration,
and athleticism. He would be a great 3rd string PG to develop and would be capable of stepping in if there is an injury.

With that roster in the Eastern Conference you would be a borderline playoff team depending on the improvement of Kemba Walker
and Bismack Biyombo along with how Anthony Davis adjusts to the NBA game. One thing that will be for sure is that this team will be
very exciting and provide a very entertaining product for the Bobcats fans. Also, established players will begin to look at this team as
a team with a very solid foundation and one that a star could take to new levels.
You will still have 11 million dollars in cap space left from the cuts at the end of the 2012 season. Then you let Corey Magette and Matt
Carroll go at the end of there contracts which gives you 16 million more dollars in cap space giving the Bobcats 27 million dollars
total in room for the cap. You use that money wisely and make a decision if Gerald Henderson is going to be a part of the future of the
franchise. I believe he will be, so you give him a contract that is somewhere between 5-7 million dollars per year annually. That gives
the Bobcats $20 million dollars to try to real in a superstar that could put this team over the top.

Mayo and Kemba are very different in my opinion. O.J. is 6'4 210 and Deron Williams would not be able to do to him what he did to Kemba and D.J. last night.
agreed. mayo is a pretty good defender. i would start mayo for hendo. in fact, if we signed mayo i would trade hendo for a mid to late first. with that said, i would not sign oj mayo. not now for this team especially at 9 mil.Originally Posted by DawgBark
He has 3 inches on Kemba and superior defense, I agree. But defensive skill can be taught, Kemba has the clear ambition to learn. Neither one of them can be a starting shooting guard in the NBA, they are both tweeners. Most shooting guards will still have a size and weight advantage on OJ.
Mayo is only going to be 25 - He is a 45% - 3 point shooter - the Bobcats are the worst 3-point shooting team in the NBA and he would get you 16 ppg 5 assists 5 rebounds...I would rather pay him somewhere between 7-9 million per year than 6 or 7 for D.J. which is what he will cost to resign.
I've got lots of ideas on how to get this team back into the playoffs in 2-3 years but I'm going to wait until all (if any) trades are completed next week to see what assets we have to work with this summer and next season.
Mayo is #1 on my free agent wish list . I would love for us to trade our 2013 Portland pick DJ and Hendo for the 2nd pick in the draft . Could you imagine A Davis and H Barnes to go along with Smack, Kemba Mayo . Can all ways dream.

According to ESPN, Mayo is actually a 37 to 38% 3 point shooter; not 45%. Still not bad though.
That said; at 6'-4" he has great size for a PG. Unfortunately he's terrible at that position. What he is, is a natural but undersized SG.
Frankly, I'm getting weary of undersized or tweener players on the Bobcats. It's about time we started emphasizing new talent with natural advantages for their position instead of disadvantages. Especially at $9M good lord.
Mayo's also a bit of a head case IMO. Discussing that man's history, mindset and attitude is likely a topic of itself.
Bobcats Redemption?
Why not start now with our TPE. Houston is said to be shopping Courtney Lee, why not use the TPE http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=85mzc9o. Courtney Lee and Buds are players that want to play and have range out to the 3pt line. Buds is better at the sf position than DBrown and Lee would give us a chance to sign him to a cheaper deal than Mayo. Both are young and have good height for there positions. 6 5 and 6 7. Bring in Jamison and bring in a center maybe Kaman. Dj needs to be resigned as he isn't an allstar but he has talent. Maybe try to get Hickson from Sac also.
