Default Write a draft prospect report of YOURSELF for local pick-up games....

Surely we have some ballers on here. It'd be cool to see how you describe your game.

    Here is mine:

Veteran Picksetter: 6'3", 2?? (way too many) pounds
    Position: SF/PF
    Birthdate: sometime in the 1970's.

Once a great guy to have on your pick-up team, the name now says it all. In years past, Picksetter was a versatile, team-first guy who could play the 1-5 at your gym depending on match ups. Always good for rebounding, defense, and the occasional amazing pass, Picksetter would SOMETIMES light you up offensively. Possessing average-at-best wingspan, but with solid ballhandling/fundamentals and a strong lower base, Picksetter could face you up off the dribble or post up smaller defenders. Unfortunately his finishing/shooting was streaky at best, so he never flourished into a dominant force, except when he was playing against a bunch of 5'3" guys.

    Today:

Well past his prime, Picksetter's on-court movements make Eddie Najera look like Blake Griffin. Too out-of-shape to finish at the rim or drain a jumper off the dribble, his scoring is limited to put-backs and the occasional wide open jumper after he has caught his breath. Being lefthanded, he is still able to bother some righthanded shooters, and he sometimes rises to the challenge of staying in front of offensive players. Still a very willing and solid passer. He is unmovable in the lane due to his sheer weight, so he can also get you some boards, even in his twilight. But make sure you have an alternate player to substitute in when Picksetter needs a 30-minute breather.

---Thanks for indulging me guys! Who's next??

    Position: PG
    Birthday: 1990s

PG with blistering speed and an amazing first step. Lacks size and strength to finish at the rim at a consistent rate. Lousy defender, average at best when he actually tries, but lack of size and strength weighs him down in this area. Bad stamina but is a surprisingly good shotblocker with nice timing and average athlete. Possesses a deadly mid-range jumper and has range up to 3. Average at best ball-handling. Continually improving offensive game. Great passer, sometimes try too many fancy passes that don't work out as often as he would like. Prefers to dish to teammates then to score and is good at finding the open man.

I'll bite...for my second post on the site.

    GamecockSmitty4: 5'11", 160
    Position: PG/SG
    Birthdate: '93

This guy has a lot of potential and plays with a lot of effort. However, "potential" is the key word. With only two years of limited church basketball seasons under his belt (coming from off the bench, on the worst team in the league), this guy has a LONG way to go before he is good. He is improving at a rapid pace since joining the University of South Carolina Pick-Up League. He loves to pass, set picks, rebound, play defense, and do all the dirty work. His game is not flashy but is solid for a guy with his experience. Coming into the league (October 2011), he was as raw as could be. Having little BBall IQ, awful ball-handling skills, and an inconsistent shot he has shown some improvement and flashes at times.

    Offense:
Plays as a PG/SG hybrid. Prefers the PG position but is a below average PG. Likes the ball in his hands, especially when the team is struggling or when the game is on the line. Slightly above average court vision for a PG but slightly below average passing skills. Loves to pass but struggles facilitating at times. When in an aggressive mood, Smitty can get to the rim almost at will using his speed and agility to get past high defenders and through low defenders. Can make some extremely difficult shots but can also miss some easy ones. Shooting is inconsistent. Decent midrange game. Prefers to pass over shoot even when he is the clear offensive threat on his team. Shoots approximately 50-60% from the field (mostly from layups), 30% from behind the arc, and 80% from the line. Poor crossover but creates separation using quickness and a combination of stepbacks and fadeaways. Very fast in transition but struggles with ball control as the tempo increases. Has trouble keeping his head up as he drives and misses some open passes. CANNOT go left. He has the skill but not confident enough in his left hand to dribble around defenders to the left side.

    Defense:
Can guard all 5 positions. Has been known to shut down quick guards as well as centers up to a foot above him. Uses quickness, strength, positioning, long arms, and ANTICIPATION to disrupt passing lanes and block/alter shots. Loves to run and gets many of his steals and blocks on transition defense. Loves to get inside with bigger guys and rebound.

    A typical 16 point game (by 1's and 2's) has a line of ~2.5 pts, 2.0 asts, 3.0 stls, 5.0 rbs, 1.5 blks, 3.0 TOs.

    superb1: 5'9", 225
    position: PG
    Birthdate: 1970s

This guys lacks potential and skills. I believe his better days are behind him. He lacks any real basketball history, never actually played any organized basketball at any of the colleges he attended. He was spotted playing at playgrounds in some of the rough neighborhoods. Willing to be a pass first type pg but no leadership skills. Limited BBIQ and offense but has displayed he can be a better defender when actually playing a meaningful game. If Dennis Rodman played point, this would best describe him. Willing to play the utility role player and took on task other prima-donna players won't touch. But due to some rumors of declining health and medical issues, I'm surprised he is declaring for the draft this late in his "career."

Draft outcome: undrafted (even by the D- League) -F

A 5'7" guy who can block some shots. Nice!! I bet you've embarrassed some guys.....Perhaps you'll finish better with added physical maturation and the development of crafty releases. Study Kemba, LOL.

Surely your offensive skill and scoring confidence can increase. Time is on your side!

Great stuff, man!! I love the extensive detail. If you can guard all 5 positions, I'll pick you for MY team in the gym. Keep working on that crossover, lefthanded drive, and dribbling with your head up!! You could be unstoppable some day!! As they say in draft parlance, you will eventually "put it all together"......

And once again, welcome to the site.

Hilarious. I can relate to some of this. I can't score to save my life now, so I have to take on the dirty work to have any value out there.....

(I hope the medical issues aren't too bad....)

"If Dennis Rodman played point,....." Good stuff.

    Plowman5: 5'11 (with shoes)
    Position: PG/SG
    Birthdate: 11/05/91

This guy has gone mostly unnoticed by most draft scouts, this could be do with him playing internationally at a sub par level (inter halls basketball at University). However, the real reason is due to his lack of size, composure on wide open lay ups and poor handles. Leading the RUTHERFORD halls basketball team to a horrible 1-5 record he has little to be proud of. The question is not what this guy lacks... but what he actually has. If he could improve his quickness, shooting ability, defense, ball handling, shot blocking, and a short temper then he could develop into a solid pro. He does have the right attitude to improve though, he is a leader who will fight for every ball and get his team going in clutch time. A natural pass first point guard he looks to drive the lane to collapse the defense and kick out to the sharp shooters on the team. He would go very well coupled with a Ray Allen type player. His basketball IQ is off the charts which allows him to outplay perhaps more naturally gifted players and take regular charges (which are never called!). If you leave him open he will shoot it, but he would definitely be described as streaky. His range does go out to 3... if he has to. He is one for a good highlight reel, if there is a between the legs/no look/behind the back pass on he will try it. A lot of the time the rest of the team cannot keep up with his vision and struggle to read when they are open but that shouldn't be a problem in the NBA.

Despite all this he is hoping for a call up to the Hoop Summit team

    MadBobcatFanUK: 6"2 167 pounds
    Position: PG
    Birthdate: 1993

A pass first PG who makes up for his lack of elite quickness and athleticsm by bullying opponents and playing the game in an immensely dirty fashion. Has been known to get called for the occasional flagrant foul and the odd technical, could improve in this area by not arguing every call the referee makes. Can get to the hoop although finds himself unable to finish among the taller players of the opposition and has to settle for kickouts. Over agressive on defence although does fight through screens well, reads the game well and picks up a few steals; although getting blown past by far quicker guards is common place and he has been known to become extremely deflated on the defensive end after having the opposing guard drop 30+ points on him night after night. Redeeming factor is his 3-point shooting which through extreme practice he has managed to make a useful tool although he sometimes settles for to many 3-point shots when he should be driving to the hoop and kicking out. Overall good court vision although could pick up more assists by dishing in the paint. Has no intangibles and has been known to skip practice when he should be coaching and fake injuries to avoid team run-throughs. Was part of the team that advanced out of their group in the Kent Tournament but were unfortunately beaten by 29 points by a very good northfleet team, fouled out during that game mid-way through the second quater which may indicate he is not a big game player. High basketball IQ although at times seems inclined to not use it on the court and instead likes to ride the pine acting as the teams coach . Could possibly carve out a role as a Luke Walton 3 point shooter/ coach/ chemistry guy although his hot headedness and overall dirt play make him hated by all fans that watch him play the game.

NBA comparison: A Deron Williams/ Boris Diaw hybrid

Plowman, hopefully as you rise to higher levels the refs will be better about calling those charges! With your basketball IQ, coupled with a need to improve several skills, it sounds like you are 1-2 Steve Nash videos away from taking it to the next level!

"A lot of the time the rest of the team cannot keep up with his vision and struggle to read when they are open but that shouldn't be a problem in the NBA." Funny. Can you recruit better teammates next season?

And I also have had a problem with composure on those open layups. Seems like there is less mental pressure when I am closely guarded or bouncing off of somebody.
