Default Mike D'Antoni "Resigns"/Magic Close To Dealing Howard

    Adrian Wojnarowski ‏ @WojYahooNBA
Mike D'Antoni has resigned as New York Knicks coach, a source tells Y! Sports.

    HoopsHype ‏ @hoopshype
Rumors: Magic closer than ever to trading Howard + Magic interested in trading Howard for Melo and Tyson Chandler.

    -----------

Not sure the Knicks do that trade now because Stephen A. Smith was saying this morning that Melo wanted D'Antoni gone. So, I guess they off'ed him for Melo to make him happy.

I used to be a Melo fan, but seriously, I can't barely stand him now. Might be the most overrated player in the NBA. Most of the Knicks' players loved D'Antoni and came there to play for him and Knicks management oust him to appease Melo? Have fun basing your entire team around that blackhole.

Knew it was only a matter of time before D'Antoni resigned.

I feel bad for Knicks fans, they've put up with this garbage for years. Lin is about the only bright spot for them.

Have to admit I'm a bit surprised about this. I thought they would can him in the off-season.

This moning on Mike and Mike, Stephen A. Smith was on. Said only Landry Fields on the team really liked playing for D'Antoni. Said that he felt D'Antoni would be gone before next week. Well, he was right. Maybe it was a resignation, but they pretty much ran him out of there I think.

they are saying it was mutual decision. i agree, the players were tired of him. management didn't do him any favors by trading for melo and signing chandler. two players who are very much not into his system.

That's weird @ ohara, I read somewhere this morning that Ken Berger said the bulk of the roster came there to play for D'Antoni and they respected him. It came down to D'Antoni vs Melo and the Knicks succumbed to Melo.

alright, i will be the first to broach the question:

would he make a good coach for the bobcats? kemba, hendo, biz, potentially davis all like to run and the bigs would probably be better served given lack of polished offense.

I am only repeating what Stephan A. Smith said this morning. But he's from NY and has his ESPN radio show from there, so I figured he was in tune to the players. He said only Landry Fields likes D-Antoni's style of ball.
