Has DJ completely checked out? He's putting up fat Boris numbers now - look at his last five games:

    24 minutes per game
    3.4 ppg
    4.8 apg
    19% FG (5-26)
    11% 3FG (1-9)

Playing more won't increase his trade value, he's destroying his own value. If his knee or toe is bothering him, he needs to shut it down for awhile. Or if it's his personal issue with playing for the team, then that's not being a professional, and we should say his knee is hurt and shut him down for the season anyway.

He was 0-5, 0-4, and 0-2 in three of those games, all while playing over 20 minutes. That shows to me either not caring, or a complete lack of aggressiveness. Both are a problem competitively to me. If its injuries, don't be a hero; if it's not, I don't know what to say.

Kemba should be starting at this point, but I do understand we'd try to keep DJs value as high as possible. I just don't think trotting him out there like he is helps that, and he should go ahead and be deactivated due to "injury."

As QC's #s show DJ isn't deserving the starting role. What happened to Silas' "holding the players accountable" & "playing the guys who give forth the effort"?

So long as DJ is starting and putting up those kinds of #s Silas loses credibility (not that he has that much with me anyway).

For the record...we should have took the best deal at the deadline (preferably way before the deadline) and give Kemba full reign a while back.

I agree. I feel deals were there to be made. Maybe we did not want to take any comparable salary back and were just satisfied with getting the cap space from not resigning DJ. That wont upset me if we use that cap space for a player like Batum or such. I just have a gnawing feeling in my gut that tells me not dealing DJ may have to do with that more than no reasonable deals coming along.

Like i said on another thread . I set beside thease guys last week . DJ din't even talk to the other guys on the team. He was just going through the motions.

All so all Salis did was keep saying come on guys . His son called the plays in time outs and made most of the subsitutions.

Sounds like DJ is forcing himself to play perhaps because he knows he is auditioning for free agency this summer. In the end, it is only hurting the team and himself.

I understand this sentiment, but i dont see this as hypocrisy. Silas has to say that stuff. He cant go on tv or radio and say "hey guys, we ain't even really trying". He has to say "I want guys who are trying hard". And I honestly don't hold any grudges against DJ and Diaw not trying. I get that we are paying them and that fans are paying to see a competitive product, and that should be enough. but when its this obvious that our goal isnt to win the championship so much as the number one draft pick. I think it would be hard to get all that excited be it player or coach.

Its a crappy situation. But its the situation we find ourselves in at this point. We are doing what we have to do to get good. It sucks but its the only way.

I agree Must , but he still needs to work with his team mates and do the best job he can for them . He has that i don't give a damn attitude around them all so. He acted as if he had no frinds at all on the team . Im sure he wanted traded at the deadline and expected to be traded . But thats not reason enough to screw his team mates. Hes only hurting his self long run.

I'm glad I checked this thread, because I was about to start a new thread saying this. He has indeed checked out it appears. He's in the middle of another stinker against Denver. He really reminds me of Boris. He has only scored in double figures SIX times since February 1. That is ridiculous. Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out, DJ.

Went to the game last night and there's no question it's Kemba's time. Either DJ's injury is too debilitating or he's completely checked out (probably a combination) but either way, Kemba's the better poing guard between the two, and Kemba is the future, so there's no excuse at this point. Sometime in the second half, Kemba set Reggie up for an "and one" and he was more pumped up about that play, while trailing, in the midst of a seven win season, than DJ has been maybe ever as a Bobcat. It sends the wrong message to keep starting DJ ahead of Kemba.
"The Charlotte Hornets name has been a mainstay throughout the region for many years, and we are excited to announce our intention to re-establish this historic brand. We believe that its return will galvanize our fan base by unifying our loyal Bobcats fans with those who have strong memories of our city's NBA predecessor." MJ, 5-21-13
