Gay is a better shooter, but Harkless is better off the bounce.

I like in there that they say he has put on 15 pounds of muscle since his last college game. He was lanky and needed to add some bulk too.

anybody care to sell me on harkless over a guy who seems similar and was drafted last year, tobias harris (we actually traded this guy as part of our draft deal). i liked tobias harris last year, but he didn't do anything in the league (as far as i'm aware), although it has only been one year.

is there a reason to think harkless will be a significantly better player? i want to buy into him, so help me out.

Just going off this vid he doesnt appear to be near as quick as Moe. Also looks like Moe is more athletic and def has a better handle.

Harris really didnt get much PT for the Bucks. 11 minutes is hardly anything. He still averaged 5 ppg. Play him 30 mpg and Id see him averaging 15 - 20 ppg.

Well a glaring difference is that Moe is an inch taller than Harris. But you are right, body wise and measurables are similar. Both are long, athletic SF's. Generally across the board Harkless is a smidge better in every category, but they are very close, too close to make drastic statements about one of the other really.

I don't think its fair to right off Harris yet after one year, but there are a lot of similarities between these two guys. The only thing I can really offer on why he is better than Harris is production and how that production came about. Moe has better stats in almost every category, even if they are not great differences. Better rebounder, more assist, but the major difference is how they got those numbers. The reason I am so high on Harkless is his production on a team that only had 6 scholarship athletes. Moe was the best player on the team as a freshman and got the attention to prove it. To me thats much more impressive than what MKG did this year and to a certain extent what Harris did last year.

In summary I can't tell you why he will be signifcantly better. I just have the feeling that what he did at St Johns on a terrible team, facing terrible adversity will translate to the NBA. The young man got it done when everything around him said he shouldn't. I like that in a player, and especially when a player is coming to a team that rarely has things go its way.

A lot of good buzz for St. John's Moe Harkless, athletic 6-8 SF. Could get late-lottery. I had him 19 in my last mock. Will be moving up.
