Going back to school is definitely part of my plan eventually, but in my experience, unless you want to get into a very specific field, just having a degree is what's important. I've worked in museums, worked for profitable websites, worked in offices, and worked at Trader Joe's, so I've done a little bit of everything. If a job listing just says "college degree required", I'm qualified.
EDIT: Also, history degrees lend themselves to becoming a teacher. If I went back to school and got my teaching certification, I would be able to find a job in no time. North Carolina is desperate for young, male teachers who can be a positive influence on the male students. I have friends who went right into teaching when they graduated, and they have great job security, and the hours are awesome.
