    Default just for the discussion....

would you consider this IF we don't land #1

trade tyrus, diop, carroll to the knicks for amare and fields

why for us: make a splash and buy extremely low. amare isn't finished, his play and game crashed when the knicks basically told him that he wasn't the man and melo was. if i am right, he is a all star, top 15-20 guy in the league, the pick and roll pf we need and he is locked up for the next 3 years. by trading tyrus we would really only be paying him 11-12 mil per year. we use our pick to take beal or consider trading down for multiple picks if beal isn't there. we could also pass fields on for more picks if we wanted or trade out fields for hendo and trade hendo.

why for them: amare and melo aren't working and amare has zero value which speaks to the why not for us

why not for us: amare may be over the hill, his contract is uninsured which is a huge risk for jordan. and the worst case scenario is that we get just good enough to be an 8 seed and are stuck with amare.

again, this is just for conversation. but i really do think amare still has 3 good years and if he is put on a team where he knows he is the man, he plays like it.

Chef- while it's tempting, I must vote no.

The issue for me is that Amare makes us just good enough to not suck but, doesn't put us on a championship path (similar to the Jason Richardson effect).

We would fight for a playoff spot and have a record just good enough to never have a legit shot at drafting a star.

With that said, next offseason, I would be more open to something like that because we will have added this years top pick and next years top pick ( we will stink again next season).

I was actually thinking about something along those lines the other day.i know that most trade scenarios are far fetched, but i think this idea could actually work if the front office wanted to do it.ok,buckle up! lol.
-First bring in d'antoni as coach. He's great @ turning young players into scorers(which we need bad)plus we could always take the tampa bay bucs approach and let him develop the guys and then bring in a more well rounded guy to finish the job.
-secondly trade magette and diop and possibly our second round pick for stoudamire and novak.I don't know the exact money but we can amnesty tyrus if we need to,so we can definitely make it happen. This will allow new york to immediately negotiate buyouts and enter the d-will sweepstakes and it would go along way to fixing their chemistry problems. It also pushes lin out of new york. And we could probably get maggette right back because he'll get bought out or we could amnesty tyrus and sign wilson chandler or someone till we get someone else.
-Third, sign jeremy lin.The guy is an all star in d'antoni's system and he's a big scoring point guard with no ego that we could actually play with kemba if we needed to and it wouldn't be a liability for once.
-Fourth,sign deshawn stevenson for cheap. He's a great perimiter defender and 3 point shooter and with he and novak and mullins coming off the bench,we could have some serious instant offense and he's a good dirty work guy, which would be good for a young team.
-fifth,draft anthony davis or michael kidd kidd gilchrist ,depending on our pick. This is the main reason i like trading for amare.Davis, biz and he are all capable of playing the 4 and the 5 ,which gives @ least 31 min a game to each and allows our young guys to develop with help for now,and then stat will be gone when they're ready to take over.Plus stat came out a few weeks back and said that he actually prefers the 5.So he and davis starting, with biz off the bench would be awesome.
-sixth, bring back oakley or try to get a defensive specialist as an assistant head coach.I think that's ideal, given that d'antoni won't coach alot of that on his own.
    - so in scenario A we would have Lin/walker,
    Henderson/stevenson
    Magette or wilson chandler/novak
    davis/ mullins
    stoudamire/byombo
    -Scenario B would be Lin/walker
    Henderson/stevenson
    kidd-gilchrist/novak
    stoudamire/mullins
Byombo/Brown(we could probably get kwame back cheap @ this point! lol.)
I know it's complex, but i think it's all quite doable.Ok,now tear me to shreds! lol.
