I think you have to offer Gordon what you can to bring him to Charlotte. If he came, would add a good bit of credibility to the team as being a place where desired FA's would actually consider coming to play.

Here is the problem.People say."oh ryan anderson is a good shooter" or "eric gordon would give us credibility". No! we blew our team up so that we could build a championship contender.Nice players won't get it.Shabazz muhammed and nerlins noel are out there next year and we have cap and draft pics going forward. If we add someone to this team as a starter, then they need to be able to go head to head with the best in the nba in the finals. The goal is a championship. Not being good.We should take as long as we need to so that we can set that type of team up.This is our one shot for a long time to get it right!

Realistically, I figure the Magic are gonna match on Ryan Anderson just to save face over losing Dwight Howard, which is looking very likely. But if we're gonna take a shot at "overspending", THAT'S the guy I'd be targeting, as he fits Dunlap's system PERFECTLY.

A PG who can flat FLY is Leandro Barbosa. 6'3" UFA, 29, and can shoot the 3 or dish.

I dont have faith in the system to get the top pick if we have the worst record. It screwed us this draft. Why think we will surely get a Top 3 next draft? Gordon is young. It is not like we'd be paying money for a Vet over 30.

NOLA will match regardless. Benson can't afford to lose the guy.

I don't see us paying big money to guys like Batum or Anderson...finals pieces and we're not there yet. Ben Gordon is a prime example of what we should be looking at; fits a need and adds another asset for the future.

Wouldn't mind something along the lines of S&T DJ to the Lakers...maybe McRoberts & a pick. They'd most definitely do a Blake/pick for DJ and Blake would fit a need...one extra year at 4 million.

A DJ S&T with the Lakers would not be bad, but their 1st could not be in 2013. They did not have a 1st in this year's draft, so they cannot trade next years.

It's only future drafts that are accounted for. As of now, this past year's draft is irrelevant.

Though this has nothing to do with the point at hand, a team can also trade a pick right after they make it no matter what. The spirit of the rule is to keep teams from trading away too many future assets and putting themselves in serious holes.

And if we are in the mood for 4, I'd love to have Jamison come here to wind up his career. I assume he'll be taking a pay cut no matter where he (re)signs and he seems like a high quality guy.

I presume w/ a 4.4m QA for DJA, he's going to get a better offer sheet and is out of here. In that case, I wish we'd pick up an (non-cost prohibitive) pass-first PG out of free agency and let Kemba know he's the #1 option from day one this year. Give him a full year sans pressure from the bench to see what he can be. I like the kid's drive - I want to see him succeed. If we could bring in a guy like Ish Smith (who we looked at in undrafted FA in 2010 - he's impressed everywhere he's gone, just always been behind a bigger pair of investments) in as a backup and you keep the high-character/hard-worker guy thing rolling. I assume Higgins is not going to be retained ....
Kwame at 30 is probably the best among UFA C's; not much to pick from though. I actually like Kaman as a player more, but he's gettin' too old and injury-prone. Wouldn't spend too much on a C though...

No thanks on either Martin or Scola, but I'd gladly take Lowry but I don't know how we'd go about bringing him in. Would also LOVE to bring in Jeremy Lamb but I doubt that ever happens
If you do bring in Lowry (and I'd think that DJA going to Houston on his own accord might not be a bad thing for both the Rockets and DJ), how do you not have a similar problem to what the Rockets have now. I don't think Lowry would want to come off the bench to back up Kemba (esp. if he didn't want to come off the bench behind Brooks) and we seem invested in Kemba at this point.

And there are health/reliability issues w/ Lowry no?
