Really enjoyed this movie when it was in the theatre. Would've liked to have seen it again. Looking forward to it getting released. Will probably buy a digital version, even.
Watched Bobcat Goldwait's God Bless America last night on Netflix. It nearly got 5/5 Cronkies, but in the end I didn't think it was THAT incredible. Joel Murray did a better job than I expected, but I had only seen him on Mad Men. Will look for other Goldwait written/directed pieces from now on.
Hunger Games...one freaking awesome movie. Got it the Monday after it came out and I've seen it 3 times already.

Really? From what I saw of the previews, it looked like a "Disneyfied" take on Battle Royale. If you give the recommendation, I might check it out, but promise me it isn't too "teeny".
Walt: I'm too lazy to do a search of it, but the Bobcat movie with Robin Williams as the lead made 3 years ago or so is definitely worth checking out. Very painful and twisted. Looking forward to God Bless America if/when my friend ever brings it over for us to watch.
Watched the first part of the Red Riding trilogy, 1974, last night and was highly impressed. Apparently it is a series of films made for television in the UK (our right honourable British members here can clarify if they're reading) based on a series of crime/suspense novels that take place in Yorkshire over the mid-70s to early 80s. Not sure if the last two films hold up to 1974, but that story alone is worth a watch if you're a crime/suspense/noir/hard-boiled devotee as I am. As is usual with British productions, the acting is top-notch, and the directing and cinematography are amazing considering television was its original medium.

Go easy on me, I'm from England, and no... I Don't love the Queen.
Personally I would have liked it a little more bloody, but for a movie targeting pre-teens/teens I thought it was borderline the other way...which made it fairly acceptable to me. The movie lasts like 2 1/2 hours and there's decent tension for 2 hours, mostly when they're playing the game. A majority of the kids are pretty ruthless and are enjoying the kill, but of course there's a few like the main heroine who are just trying to stay alive. She's also very easy to pull for too; the way she got there, her attitude and her aura of no fear.
I sure don't want to steer you wrong, but this one is up there pretty high for me.
