Default If Shaw/triangle/Robinson, then Rivers at 10?

There's been a fair amount of discussion of Shaw being hired and running the triangle. Assuming we draft Robinson at 2 and don't trade the pick, would Rivers at 10 be a good choice to be the trigger man for that offense? Kemba could do it, but I'm wondering if Rivers would provide more of that creative bail-out sg type that has been the hallmark of the triangle as we know it.

I'm also assuming that Beal and Lamb will be gone by 10.

How do you propose we land the tenth pick?

Supposedly, NO is willing to trade it and either Okafor or Ariza to free up cap space. I think both guys have two years left, so it wouldn't be terrible for us to do it.

That's a tough call. I mean, we could take on Ariza and just amnesty him, but I really don't like the idea of him actually being on the team for two years. Okafor makes way too much, but he would be a better contributor than Ariza.

I don't know if taking on either is worth getting the tenth pick, but who knows.

I don't think we can amnesty a player we acquire. It has to be someone that was on our roster as of the last CBA.

Both guys would essentially be expiring contracts next year, which wouldn't be too terrible, especially since a handful of teams would likely take on Okafor as a season rental for the playoffs. We would likely have to amnesty someone this year to make room for Okafor though.

The 10th pick this year could be a valuable piece. Given we give up no assets but cap space to acquire the pick might be well worth it. I actually thing this becomes a no-brainer if we spend the pick on acquiring a young star like Harden.

The Triangle requires versatility, spacing, and the ability to pass the ball, Rivers isn't the best choice for something like that. We'd be better off going after a guy like White

We also wouldn't be able to amnesty anyone we trade for.

You could see it working with this:

    Kemba
    Hendo
    White
    Robinson
    Biyombo/Mullens

I know Mullens would be a better fit in terms of offense, but hopefully we could execute it with BB at the 5.

I don't see why Bizzy couldn't fit in the triangle....The Bulls never had an offensive center.....ever
As long as NC has a team, I'm going to cheer for it

Well new orleans said that they would give up the 10 pick in exchange for taking on ariza or oakafor's contracts, but they are also telling teams that they want a young 2 guard in the deal as well.So it would basically be henderson for the 10th pick and ariza(which i would not want to do).And if would did trade for that pick i can pretty much guarantee you it would be for lillard or marshall.Myers leonard could be in play too but i think the front office gonna roll with biz @ center. If you've paid attention, one of the first things that cho said this year about our team was that we need to get bigger @ the point guard positon.Everyone just assumes that kemba was drafted to automatically be our point guard of the future, but in my opinion,he was drafted because we needed scoring and he was the best scorer available @ 9 last year.It doesn't mean the team won't bring him off the bench if they find a bigger point they like better. As for rivers,i think he's a tweener and i flat out don't think he'll ever be a star.I would trade the 31st and portland pick next year to ensure that we could draft jenkins if you want a true bail out shooter for the triangle. However,i'm not really even sure that's what that offense is based on.Mike and kobe were the 2 guards when it was run.Would you not give them the ball with the clock winding down?I think the system is really just about spacing and making the extra pass.I think that applies to every position on a team that runs it.

Can't see it done with Rivers. He has poor court vision, a chucker's mentality, rarely passes and the ego of an inflated life raft. Triangle needs what Swedd says. Rivers is more a driver than a shooter too. Hendo would be more suited to the triangle than Rivers.
