Default Let's make this a new beginning

Well, a smart man once said that once you reach the bottom, there's nowhere to go but up. I think that it's time for us as fans to stop looking so pessimistically at the state of this team and appreciate what's going on here.

This franchise has hit the reset button. New look, new coach (who at this point in time IS a good hire and everyone here has learned that today), and this time next week we will add a new building block.

What we need to understand is that today is the day that this team OFFICIALLY becomes Michael Jordan's team, and Rich Cho is the man making the knobs churn.

Appreciate it, because we'll all look back at today and remember it as the day that this team took a step forward and a step in a new direction, and we as fans need to get behind it.

Think about it, as far as I can speculate, Rich Cho has made 3 major moves, all of which NO ONE can complain about thus far:

    1. Essentially trading Stephen Jackson for Kemba Walker
    2. Drafting Bismack Biyombo
    3. Hiring Mike Dunlap, who appears to be Larry Brown's brains with Tom Thibedeau's enthusiasm.

I think right now we really are "preparing today to own tomorrow"

I really agree with everything you said.

I can;t stand the negativity I see surrounding this franchise. Whether it's about the name, the players, MJ, the coach....it's been rough. But when I look at what we have, I think we're in a much better position than alot of teams in the league. Sure we just had the worst season ever. It was TERRIBLE. I can't really blame people for making fun of the team and all that, but at the same time I defend the team.

Kemba and Bismack are two great starting points. They didn't do a whole lot last year but showed flashes. Kemba will be alot better this year. I truly believe he will be our starting PG for the next decade. Bismack is the anchor for this team for the next decade. I don't care if we trade the #2 pick for an all star on draft night....Bismack will still be the guy who I think will be the reason this team becomes successful. He has the fire and work ethic that the great ones have. Will he be a great? I think so. He's at least gonna be a truly solid starter. He's the anchor.

Henderson can't be forgotten either. He was the only guy who scored 30+ points in a game for us last year. I think he's a for sure starter here. Unless we get some in the likes of James Harden, Eric Gordon, etc. the starting SG position belongs to Hendo.

We will add another great piece this year in the draft. I want Robinson. I think he fits great next to Bismack. He also has the super star potential we don't currently have on this team. If we draft MKG or Beal I'm cool with that too. Im a FLA fan so I am a big fan of Beal but don't really see a reason to draft him over ThoR or MKG. MKG is gonna be a really good player too. Star? That remains to be seen. He will be a career starter...probably make quite a few All NBA Defense Teams. Do we want another non shooter on our starting lineup tho? I don't think so. That's why I come to ThoR. He's great all around. Rebounding was a HUGE problem last year...Thomas excels at it(playing a position we NEED a starter at). He also shoot well, has good post work, and is a leader with passion. I love him and everything he's about.

Our other smaller pieces like Mullens look good too. Can't wait to see how he improves.

Cap space will also allow for FA signings. This summer my targets would be Dragic or Lou Williams and Jeff Green. Kemba would remain starter over Dragic/Lou and they could play a huge spark-off-the-bench role we need. Jeff Green is only 25 and is a building piece. I feel very comfortable having him as a starter on this team as long as he's healthy.

And next summer's FA should be very interesting too. Curry is coming. Don't see how he doesn't honestly. I really think he's coming here. If he doesn't...we're still good. Keep drafting well, sign smaller pieces and develop our talents.

    We're good, Charlotte.

I completely agree with you on this piece and I don't think enough people think about this. If Curry loves this town half as much as Dell does, there's no way he doesn't come to Charlotte and cement his legacy in his hometown and make this his team.

Curry will be a restricted FA. Meaning their Billionaire owner will match any offer.. ( especially as the are moving into a brand new arena in San Fransisco).

Good points! I've been a Bobcats fan from day one, supporting the home team through thick and thin, finding myself defending them quite often. From the outside I think it looks a lot worse than it actually is. Its easy to criticize after the season we just had but it seems most true fans realize we are in a good place, on the right path with a solid plan. I've followed this board for years and have come to respect and appreciate a lot of you guys comments (more so than the mainstream media in most cases). I haven't commented until recently because, well, I'm lazy and someone usually ends up making the point I was thinking eventually anyway. But I wanted to join in the fun now, while we are still perceived as down so as not to be confused as a bandwagon fan when this team takes off. I'm certainly not that. I think its exciting to watch the evolution and will be all that much sweeter once we get to where we want to be.

I like your enthusiasm and faithfulness towards the team but trying to get others here to feel that way is very hard. They want results immediately regardless to what the plan. And if we don't deliver, then they are talking trash about everyone from MJ to a new coach. I have argued my point for years. It does not work, you would think that if you are a fan, you would be a fan through thick and thin.

Just for the record, Jack was traded for the 7th pick--Bismack

We already owned the 9th pick that became Kemba

I don't think I've read anyone on this board say they were not going to be fan anymore. All of us support the team and want them to do well. But, I'm also not planning any parades over the free agent signings of Cory Higgins, Jamario Moon, etc. (passing over Danny Green, Gerald Green, Jeremy Lin, etc)

As a fan we have every right to question some of these idiotic moves our team has made... That doesn't make us bad fans.

I'm here through thick and thin, that doesn't mean that I think every move us right because, obviously the team hasnt earned the right to not be second guessed.

We have the worst roster in the NBA so we have no where to go but up...hopefully we go up quickly and don't spend another 8 years spinning our wheels (this is the 2 nd try to have a low salary cap and build through the draft, let's hope Cho executes the same plan that Bernie had 8 years ago better than Berme did)
