"The Charlotte Hornets name has been a mainstay throughout the region for many years, and we are excited to announce our intention to re-establish this historic brand. We believe that its return will galvanize our fan base by unifying our loyal Bobcats fans with those who have strong memories of our city's NBA predecessor." MJ, 5-21-13
NBA on NBC was the greatest thing ever
and Walter Payton couldn't touch Bo on tecmo
Being able to remember the following:
Going to Memorial Stadium(not Camden Yards) in Baltimore to watch the Orioles beat the Oakland A's, and there was this rookie kid named "Ricky Henderson" playing for Oakland. I remember it well.
The Lionel Toy Warehouse on Independence Blvd. in Charlotte. It was magical. (Basically a precursor to Toys-R-Us, I think.)
Having to watch the NBA playoffs on tape-delay late at night because the networks had better things to show in prime time.
Watching David Thompson and Dan Issel play live at the Omni in Atlanta.
Other things that make me feel old:
My feet and my hips.
Remembering playing pick up basketball with J.R. Reid when we were both teenagers.
Watching the original "Land of the Lost" and those drug-induced Kroft Superstars.
Going camping and not being able to watch the Osmonds that night because we were out in the woods.
Seeing hot young women I would have desired a few years back and realizing I'd be a total pervert to hit on them now. And the worst part: Not even really caring that this is the case. That's old.
I could go on and on. This is depressing.
Knowing what Intellivision was and how it was superior to Atari.
Asking a 20-something "hip hop fan" co-worker if he had heard the latest Q-Tip album and him not having a clue who I was talking about.
