Default Elton Brand Amnestied, Bobcats possibly Interested

The Sixers have amnestied Elton Brand, and the Bobcats could be interested:

So my question to everyone, do you take Brand or Jamison? Or both? Or neither?

    Default Elton Brand

Do Bobcats make a move for Brand?

Adrian Wojnarowski ‏@WojYahooNBA Y! Sources: Philadelphia will use amnesty clause on Elton Brand, clearing way to sign Nick Young. http://tinyurl.com/82loc7k

A secondary waiver claim on Elton Brand (pay part of his guarantee) would be a bold move by the #Bobcats.

Brand is represented by David Falk, Jordan's former agent, so there's a comfort level there. Brand is a total pro.

Default Elton Brand victim of the Amnesty

Brand has been a victim of the amnesty by the 76ers. We have first dibs with:Bobcats, Hornets, Rockets, Cavs, Mavs, Suns, Blazers to claim him. Someone with good CAP knowledge help me out here. Would it be a bad move claiming him for just 1 year? It would basically be a rental, he could help if we miss out on Jamison, give us that veteran presence. He also has the same agent as Jordan did so there will be some connection there.

I think I would take Brand but idk, with him being at 18 mil per one season..or does he get a new contract if he signs with us ?

We wouldn't be on the hook for all 18 though. Between the two to make us legit better, Brand for sure. Jamison would still make more sense for the plan.

We wouldn't have to. Teams under the cap would bid for him under this waiver process. They could either put in a full waiver claim and take on his entire contract, as is. Or a partial bid can be put in and the Sixers would owe the difference. Everyone's friend Larry Coon lays it out better than I can below:

This is an interesting development. Since none of this can actually happen 'til the 11th, the 'Cats have plenty of time to get an answer from Jamison. They just got a nice veteran fallback option should Jamison go elsewhere. Not that they'd be guaranteed Brand, but he'd also fit the mold of what they're looking for vet-wise.

Brand would be a better fit than Jamison and might even be cheaper. He's going to still get paid by Philly so we'd only cover a small portion of his contract. Great vet, won't make us much better, offers some low post scoring we could really use.

Also, keep in mind that MJ wanted to trade the pick that became Kwame for Brand way back in the day

    I'd do it.

Also, if you like veterans as tutors, Brand would be a great tutor for Biyombo, as he became a good rebounder and shot blocker with limited height.

I'd definitely like having Brand on the team. At the very least, he'd make our low post on both ends something half way respectable.

If we could manage to drop Tyrus and get both, I'd want that.(kinda old but whatever) But other than that, Brand.

At first I loved the idea of having Jamison come to Charlotte, but the more I think about it, the more I don't like it. With two SF's drafted and Tyrus, Biyombo and Mullens all able to play PF I don't see a need for him. For me Brand is better, he could play C if Cats go with a small line-up and he is far more efficient than Jamison. He also plays better defence than Jamison and overall in my opinion would be a better locker-room influence. He won an NBA sportsmanship award and ik it doesn't mean much but it points to him being a good guy. Also the last two seasons he's shot 50 and 46% from mid-range which means he could fit with Smack. Another thing he also has the girth to play with Mullens and Thomas whose post defence are both laughable.
