Default The "What are you doing recently?" Thread

I checked but could not find a thread where we can talk about our daily lives, our jobs, relationships etc. if there is, we can merge them. Maybe we can exchange thoughts about ordinary things, which is actually important for me because I believe the daily lives of people reflect the cultural differences between societies more than anything else. For sure, we have so much stuff going on beyond basketball. To start, I would like to tell you my last two years briefly.

For the last two years I've been very busy, last spring I was senior at college and finally able to graduate as an electronics engineer. I was a sub-par student at best, so I just had to focus on the courses. Then, after a short European trip, I started looking for a job, but besides 2 months' work at a software company, I was unemployed. In Turkey, there is mandatory military service for men, and employers are reluctant to offer a job to mediocre and inexperienced newly-graduated engineers who have not completed the service yet. Unemployment is a very common problem in Turkey even if you are a qualified person. So I am going to start the military service in August, and will be out for at least 5 more months. After completing the service, hopefully the things will turn out a little fortunate for me. And hopefully again, I will make my full return here, and share all the excitement and disappointments that Bobcats "exert" on us with you

Bobcatsplanet needs one of its old members! Good luck with your military service. Hopefully next time you're posting here regularly we won't be the worst team in the NBA anymore.

As for me, I just got my undergraduate degree in English and will be starting graduate school (for english as well), in the fall. In the meantime I work part time at Marshalls as a cashier. The weekly money isn't much, but its better than not having any job in my opinion.

I hope this year I can finally attend my first Bobcats game. School, among other activities has left me unable to make the trip. This year I should have more time available, so I will pick a date and go.

congrats and good luck on your military career.

I have not been doing much, just returned to college as part of my re-invention plan. Last year I was diagnosed with MS and had to find a new line of work but there is not much that I can do now without it being too trying on me. Just being Mr Mom and full time student along with spending more time here reading through threads.

    - reading comics and novels
    - playing Civ V: Gods & Kings
    - playing b-ball twice a week
    - wasting time on Reddit
    - some menial work around the summer-house
    - studying

    All in all, nothing productive.

Looks like I'll end up going down a similar path.

I have one more year of college (BA Criminal Justice, minor in Political Science) and then I'll be heading off to the military. Hopefully I can get commissioned as an officer, but if not then whatever.

Other than that, I pretty much have a normal-ish routine. I run a lot nowadays so if I'm not in class I'm probably either jogging, at the gym, or spoiling my pups. That would change if I could get a job but apparently I'm undesirable and nobody will hire me. I can attest to how much being broke sucks

If you want like the grunt stuff, the army would be good but if you are more career oriented, I'll go with the Air Force. Did both and thumbs up for Air Force

Both my grandpas went through the army, had one uncle go navy and another go air force (now a guardsman), cousin in the navy on a sub somewhere, and my brother in law is army.

The army is a favorite partly due to the realness of it compared to the "chair force" perception (no disrespect, just different approaches), and partly due to honor my one grandpa (left the world in a bad situation)

What was your career like? MOS and all that

    What I've been doing:

    - spending my 9 to 5 hours working a contract at super-global-mega-money-bank
    - running around trying to make it to all of my kids' activities
    - attempting to keep up with any and all things Bobcats related
    - setting up a small side business to do website design / redesign / seo ( anybody have a site they'd like built or an ugly site they'd like redesigned? If so then let me know )

In my spare time... wait a minute, I have no spare time.
