    Hopefully.

Charlotte's winning bid for Haywood, per league source, was $2.05M.
    Great value.

I'm hoping we aren't done yet.

Amnesty Diop or Thomas and get Scola.

Contract length is a little excessive (4 year), but the starting price $2.05 million is very reasonable, and easy to dump if needed. This is a solid move, and more importantly, it makes me believe we'll go after Scola, because Haywood never seems to fit up-tempo as well.

If we did indeed sign him for the duration of his contract, the final year is a team option. So worst case, he's here for three years.

Mavericks will pay remaining $6.34M of Haywood's salary this season and $25.2M of guaranteed money left on his contract.
    Great deal for us.

I'm thinking the same thing about Scola, too. I wonder if they'd bid what they were willing to pay Jamison. Jamison is taking his time but I'd bet they could have Scola for essentially the same amount without having to negotiate. Jamison has every right to take his time, but the 'Cats also have decisions to make. It will be interesting to see what happens there.

For those concerned about fit, I think we need to remember that we might not be able to run and gun all season. In theory, it's a great idea, but you always have times where you have to play half court basketball, even if it's just to let guys rest for time during games.

Haywood gives us a legit C that we can plug in whenever and allows us to play bigger if we need to. At the price, I think he's a perfect signing, as all teams can use a guy like him on the roster, even if he's not playing big minutes.

And more important, we're not relying on Diop to play C off the bench.
    Win. Win. Win. Win. Win.

Game. Set. Match. Point. Game Over. You lose.
    SOMEONE will pay for THIS!

He provides rebounding and defensive toughness. They were killed so much on the boards last year it was pathetic. He also has some post moves. To be honest I think he's as athletic or more so than Mullie. He can get up and down the court.
