6 million over 3 years isn't bad at all for an investment in a 7 ftr. who's at least competent in the paint on both sides of the ball. I don't want him starting though and I esp. don't want him starting alongside Biz.

We're all no doubt still giddy from the Summer League Win, but this report doesn't give me a whole lot of confidence in Brendan as a starter. If he doesn't bring some energy, no way he starts...

I don't think it's anything to do with his energy. He was signed there as a free agent and promised a starting spot and they turned right and brought chandler in.I think there was just alot of distrust with the front office and a falling out with the coach after that.He needed a change of scenery.Hawood's a solid pro.

I don't see Haywood as the starter. If I were to slot our current roster on opening day, it would be....

    Walker / Henderson / MKG / Tyrus / Biz
    Sessions / Gordon / Taylor / Mullens / Haywood

If we can grab one of the PF's like Jamison, Scola or Landry, I'd go with....

    Walker / Henderson / MKG / Jamison / Biz
    Sessions / Gordon / Taylor / Mullens / Haywood -- Amnesty Tyrus

Truthfully, I could care less if we add another PF. With Haywood in the loop, we have a big physical presence down low, even though it's at the 5 and not the 4. I'd rather save the cap room and keep our higher draft spot next year, run with Tyrus at either the starting 4 or back-up and see what you get out of him. If he's good, try and dump him at the deadline.... if not, amnesty his albatross ass this offseason. Outside of an All-Star spot this year, he needs to not be on this team after 2013.

Yeah sorry I meant 2 million a year for 3 years, didn't put my point across well at all!

I've always been confused with how amnesty works. I know we pay 2.05 of his 8.3 this year so what happens next year? We pick up the rest of his contract? Wish someone would just clear this up for me, just wanting to know A) will Haywood remain with us next year? B) how much will we pay him next year? Either way I like the move and I think he will start. I didn't know he lived here in the offseason, I bet he's excited to be here as his career winds down.

We have basically signed him to a new contract for about $2m per year. The difference between our contract and his previous contract is paid for by the Mavericks.
    SOMEONE will pay for THIS!

    We pay:

    2.05 of 8.35 this year
    2.05 of 9.07 next year
    2.05 of 9.80 year after

Not sure if we're on the hook for his final year or if that's a PO/TO. Tamb?
