He should he could be a volume scorer towards the end of last year, and started to show some leadership traits as well. Taylor has some good skills as well, but why does it have to be one over the other? Gerald has earned the right to be one of this team's leaders, and Jeff gives us some great depth off the bench, something I don't think we've ever had. Everyone doesn't have to be a starter to be a valuable piece, and the best reference I love to make is Dell Curry. We've never had one of those, and with Gordon and Taylor, we might have some firepower now once the starters need a break.
Did my eyes deceive me?!? Did someone really just mention Hendo in a BIG 3 scenario?!?

Big players as commonly mentioned around the league is all star types. Something Hendo will never be.

Henderson can be a Big 3 guy with 2 other guys as the focal point, yes, I totally believe that. He averaged 16 last year on the worst team ever with every team knowing he was our #1 option. You put two other volume scorers beside him, why can't he be like an Andre Iguodala? We would agree he's best as a #3 right? You guys are really undervaluing Gerald here. I'm not saying Gerald will be a perennial all-star, but he has a good mid-range game and has some off the dribble ability.

Gerald hasn't maxed out his ability yet, and with a better offense and other threats on the court it's only going to help his development even more. I'm amazed he showed progress in the mess of a season we had last year.

In my mind to be a referred to as a part of some teams "Big 3" you need to be a perennial All Star. Guys like Lebron, Pierce, Garnett, Bosh, Wade, Gasol, Kobe, Melo, Parker, Duncan, ect.

Gerald is a solid role player on a good team. A nice 6th man. (Right now anyways)

If he can prove to be a 20+ppg scorer and make multiple All Star games than I will be elevate him to that status. Which I don't see happening.

The difference is that I think Junior has hit his ceiling, which isn't that bad. Lots of players never max out their potential, and Junior's done it, which is a testament to his hard work. I would love it if he could prove me wrong and be a starting-caliber 2 on a contending team, much less an All Star or a member of a "big 3", but I just don't see it happening. There's not much he offers other than a usually solid jumper off a curl, an occasional strong finish at the rim, and so-so defense. I don't have any doubt he'll be starting at 2 the whole season, but I think JT, as he learns the NBA game, will push Junior hard for that position by the following season (if we haven't upgraded by then). He doesn't have quite the explosion Junior does, but in everything else, from BBIQ to three-point shooting, JT is the better player, or, will prove to be over time.

But we can all agree we're in a good place that we can be having this discussion at all.

I'm still not sure where everyone is getting this Taylor will push for Hendos job thing.

    1. Taylor is a SF.
    2. Taylor has to pass Williams and Gordon to even take Hendo's spot.
    3. We only have 2 SF's on this team. MKG and Taylor, why would we be worried about Taylor playing 2 when he will have plenty of burn behind MKG.
    4. You guys are annointing Taylor as a better NBA player than Henderson after 2 Summer League games... one in which he struggled pretty mightily.

I am super stoked about Taylors ability, but theres a reason he dropped to 31. He has things to prove, and YOU CANNOT USE SUMMER LEAGUE as any indicator of his future position on this team. Its just a feeling out session for GM's and Coachs and a way to acclimate these guys to the league. The guys he is playing against wont be there come regular season... they will be replaced by bigger, stronger, faster dudes, the same dudes Gerald Henderson has already proven him self against by becoming a 15ppg guy in his second real season in the league.

My argument is that over time, JT will push Junior. It's obvious Junior is our starting 2 for 82 games unless injured, and depth being what it is, JT will be the primary backup at 3. Also, there's the possible roster moves that could come into play (re-sign Jr? trade him? trade JT? find/draft a better player than either?) to make this argument pointless but if both are on the roster 2 years from now, with MKG embedded at 3, JT would be a strong contender for the starting 2.

Plus, it just makes for good summer talk.

i agree . im the biggest gerald spokesman on here and thats because i've watched almost every bobcat game ,and not going by perception(hendo is just a dunker). anybody who has watched hendo can see that he will be an all-star. once again in 2 bobcat seasons he is shooting 46% which is amazing but because he isn't a high volume jacker like russell westbrook who will avg 22 ppg but shoot 12-27 every game, ppl are blinded by the reality that russell is a bad scorer ,loses the concept of the team, and forces alot of to's.i hate when ppl say that hendo doesn't have a 3 game well, so? he's shooting 46% which no matter how u slice it ,its shooting 46% .gerald has post moves , a great mid-game ,and he plays great d.like i said taylor may be a good role player but at best he is a mikeal pietrus clone: athletic but cant create for others , cant create for his self, bad handle, good defender, and can stretch the floor.watch taylors college and summer lg games he basically a spot up shooter.his last 9 games of last year he avg 19 points a game while attempting about 17 shots a game and a increase in min. usually most players end the season hot pick up the next year even better .
