    Default Fall Out New Vegas

As most of you know, I'm behind the times.

Picked up Dawnguard and New Vegas with a gift card two days ago. (Dawnguard looks promising.)

Like Fall Out 3, New Vegas has been pretty awesome. Love the open world. Love the intrigue. Good story so far.

Can't wait for another Fall Out game after what Bethesda has learned from Skyrim.

Oh, you absolutely MUST get the all the DLC for New Vegas. Old Wold Blues is pure genius (well, Avellone is the genius in question, but that attribute is a given). You should also read All Roads, the prequel comic written by the Man himself.

As for Fallout 4, I'm hoping Bethesda lets Obsidian handle the storytelling (let's be honest, NV is the true successor to the spirit of the classic Fallout games) whilst keeping the reins over design. I can't wait to see the engine they used for Skyrim in all its, post-apocalyptic, glory.

Yeah, I got a used copy of the ultimate edition. Actually installing disk 2 now before I start back up again.

I see what you mean about New Vegas being closer to the first two games, but I thought Fallout 3 fit very nicely with the first two games. I only played about 10 minutes of Tactics and stopped.

As for the character development, that usually takes place over a long time in these games. Basically, you're the "chosen one" in each game, and you develop what that means through the course of the game.

It's been probably 10 months since I played it so I can't exactly remember the plot, but what I disliked about New Vegas was the lack of choice. If I remeber anything at all, it seemed that you either had to serve the dude who was in charge of New Vegas or you had to use the AI to take over New Vegas. I prefered to just fly under the radar and do my own thing and kind of play each side against the other, but the questlines didn't give me that option. I didn't play long enough to discover maybe it did allow you to do that and not HAVE to be a glorified underling, or the kingpin. Other than that, I did enjoy the story, loved the companions I met, I just didn't like feeling boxed in on choices.

Like you, I love Bethesda's take on Fallout and really look forward to seeing what they can do with the tech advances they made for Skyrim. Only thing is, it'll likely be a next-gen game, so who knows when/if we're gonna see it, that is, a Beth developed Fallout.

The player, additionally, also has the option to side with either NCR or the Legion (different quest lines). Siding with the AI (Yes Man) is basically doing your own thing and manipulating everybody (doing their quests, reaping the benefits and laying the groundwork for Vegas' independence) till the point they realize that you're doing it. I don't know how much time you spent on the game, but of all of the entries in the Fallout universe, FNV gives the player the most options on how to tackle the quests or deal with your companions (http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallou..._Vegas_endings).

Heh, all this talking about FNV has prompted me to install it again. Curses.

I hate getting a MOAB at the very end of a game and not being able to call it in because some doofus decides he wants to grab the tags
