    How cheap is cheap?

If you want walking distance to the Biscuit, the Hampton Inn and Hilton Garden are over by the NASCAR HOF. I think they run between $130 to 150 a night. They're less than 2 years old so they should be okay. If you are comfortable spending around $200, you could try old school cool like the Dunhill or very contemporary/trendy like the Aloft.

I don't think you're going to find anything MUCH cheaper 5 miles...maybe 10 when you hit the burbs like Matthews or Concord or something.

Call up the local escort service, I'm sure they know where some of the cheaper places to stay in that area

Kayak.com does a good job of directing you towards a targeted hotel that meets your budget and an acceptable distance. I'm not sure what dates you are choosing, I choose a Friday night in March. Results with distance from the Arena And if you don't follow the Bobcats game day chats, it'd be worth your while doing that, last year one of the chatter there (and here) with alias Norway, was hooked up by Matt R w/ the bobcats with some great seats, a pre-game tour of the Cable Box and a fun night.

Once you select the option that you think would work best, google that hotel and try to make the reservations (let them know you found the rate on kayak if they quote you something higher-that way if you have to cancel the reservation you aren't tied to kayak, priceline, etc.). Best of luck finding something that meets your appetite.

He's still talking about that haha. And I know he stayed in a cheap hotel about 10 minutes from the arena.
