    Default Nice Kemba Walker article

Full article at The Charlotte Observer

What did Walker, who will start at point guard next season for the Charlotte Bobcats, do on summer vacation?
He stayed in Charlotte. He shot.
“Just pretty much everything," Walker said late Wednesday afternoon. "You know, pick and roll, just taking a whole bunch of shots. Overall, shooting.”
It sounds like he has been working hard over the summer. I'm looking forward to the season to find out if he can raise that shooting percentage up above 40%

I remember at summer league practice he said he had been working on his 3 point shot the most all summer... then he just threw up a load of bricks in the games :/

Very good article. I want to believe in Kemba and his dedication to getting better this offseason certainly reinforces the faith.

There have been plenty of PGs who couldn't shoot but still had successful careers. He needs to learn how to be effective even if he never develops any sort of range

Never said he needed a shot to be effective. Just pointing out that it doesn't matter how much someone works out, if he works out wrong it will actually make the errors worse.

You are basing your opinion on probably 1-1/2 months...and most without a coach (which IMO is the bigger thing). Can you really expect a huge jump in efficiency after that amount of time?

From what I could tell last season he had issue with the way he shot (form, footwork, etc.), so just going out there and jacking up shots might not have helped him as much as working out with Dunlap.

Personally I think lessening the pressure of him being the only option as well as running an actual offense will help a lot.

I like the fact that Kemba is working on his game, but expanding his range may not be the best idea. We all know how it helped Tyrus last season. He started atempting baseline jumpers and soon enough he'd hit more coaches than baskets.

    Wasnt addressing you.

Just pointing out that if he never can shoot a respectable percentage, there's still hope for him to be a good player. And that he shouldn't sip working on the other aspects of the game just because he can't shoot

I expect inprovement , how much? I think he shoots over 40% and averages over 5 assist averging about 14ppg . Some of that due to more consistant play around him . If he shoots under 40% expect us to make at run at CURRY next season.
This will be his true assesment season.

    Thanks Ammofan!

His ass had better be in the gym all summer. He is a professional athlete and this should be the norm. Its sad when its news that a player is working on his game in the offseason.
