This is all pointless. I'm sure we did try to get involved as a 3rd team. I'm pretty sure from what we have seen that cho is working the phones on those kind of deals. As far as bynum the player, he's not signing a contract anywhere until he hits the open market so there's no point in giving up young assets with no guarantee when we can just call his agent in july like everyone else and make our offer if we choose to. I'm just tired of all these dead end topics. I'm sure cho has probably talked to every gm in the league since the season ended. We have what we have right now. I just wanna go ahead and fill our roster out with the 2 best cheap vets left that we can find, get to training camp, see what we actually have, and pick all this crap back up at the tread deadline or next off season.

One difference tho; the team who has him when he hits FA...in this case the Sixers...will have his Bird Rights. This will allow them to offer more money and an extra year which IMO will give them the inside track in retaining him.

I agree that we most likely tried to get involved but probably weren't willing to give up what it took, and esp. for something that will cost the max and is such an unknown going forward.

why wouldn't trade an unproven rookie for an established 24 yr old franchise center . he was basically a straight swap for dwight . so your telling me u wouldn't trade mkg for dwight, because alot of professionals have bynum better or just as good dwight. im not saying if trading for bynum was a reality but i just wanted to know if anybody felt that bynum was an oppurtunity to get and if we should pursue him. it completely baffles me how many ppl think that it is bad tho? when the professionals think it was a no brainer.

also when deron williams came to the nets he didn't have any good players . that team was horrid for 1 1/2 years .

The Lakers upgraded from Bynum to Dwight.

Like I've said 2 times already...health, maturity and the ability to play like a max contract player.

I wouldn't trade a player with as much promise as mkg for a guy who is 90% likely to bolt after the season. It's not a good gamble and this franchise can't afford any more bad pr stunts. And yes spectre, i realize the team with his bird rights can offer him more money but we're not a good a good enough team or a big enough market to gamble that he would want to stay here at this point. It's an absolute no brainer to me. And with bynum's injury history and never having carried a team by himself, i'd want to see him do it somewhere else this year and prove it and then maybe make an offer. Not before.

bynum, with kobe and gasol, hasn't gotten past the 2nd round in 2 years. but with hendo and mullens, he's supposed to take us to the promised land somehow?

superstars on max deals are some of the best deals in all of sports; non-superstars on max deals are some of the worst.

that's my 2 cents at least.

What about AI I know his contract is a bit bloated but he's basically what we're hoping MKG will become, I personally as much as I like MKG would have had no qualms about flipping him and another player of some worth to get in Iggy. He's like Rudy Gay minus 6 points of scoring and but with a far better copntract.

I don't know about everyone else, but I expect much greater things out of MKG than Iggy level production.

I personally can't see it, I see the lockdown defence, the ability to get out in transition, and occasionalplay in the post. If anything i'd say Iggy is the better athlete out of the two. Though who am I to question MKG, could become the next Scottie Pippen.

I'm not saying Iggy sucks, I think he's a great player and that we should be happy if MKG turns out that well.

But if we're going full retard tank mode and come out of it with our key player (so far) being Iggy, then, well, I'll be disappointed
