Bobcats draft special

First off, I loved the doc. Reminded me of the one CSET did of Mek's drafting.

Dunno if anyone caught this but during the draft part (just before it started), they very briefly showed a whiteboard with all the teams slots on it. In the top right were four "trades" written down, as follows (edited for clarity). Thank God for pause on DVR.

Cleveland: 2, (undecipherable name, possibly with a R or B? Probably Bismack or Byron?) [then and arrow pointing to] 4, 24

Minnesota: 2, Matt Carroll [arrow] 5, 2 future 1sts, Wes Johnson

Houston: 2, Tyrus Thomas, Matt Carroll [arrow] 12, 16, 18, Chandler Parsons, Kyle Lowry

Houston: 2, Tyrus [arrow] 8, 12, 16, Parsons

I have no idea if these were proposed to us, or were proposed by us, or were Cho's ideas? But I'm interested to hear what, if any of these, you guys would have taken?

I'm leaning towards Minnesota.

I did find it interesting that Higgins said that if we drafted Robinson we'd have to look for a trade since we'd be overloaded at the 4 (Cho mentioned the hole would be at the 3)...insinuating to me that they see Biz as a PF. From that I don't think another PF is that essential in their minds right now and probably why they've been looking at wings.

Oh, and Cho said that tho he does think Drummond will be a good player he's just too raw to be playing with Biz...so it appears he got ruled out fairly early. I think everyone feels Biz was Cho's "push for" pick so it's not surprising that he'd be considering him in thinking about fit. It probably also insinuates that Cho thinks Biz will be > Drummond as he also said he's all about picking the best available and trading for fit.

I think the notion that we were loaded at PF is laughable. Even if you bump Biz and Byron down to PF, with DJ White and Tyrus, that's 4 players that can't rebound to save their lives. White isn't even worth a roster spot and I'll be damned if Tyrus the Stomach Virus is considered any part of our long term future. Now, not drafting Robinson over MKG seems like the prudent move so far but addressing your second point about Biz being Cho's guy and Drummond too raw etc, this scares me to death and shakes my confidence in Cho down to the ground. There is no rational, logical, reason why Cho should have a man-crush strong enough on Biz that it excludes drafting Drummond. This team is not going to smell the playoffs in 2-3 years regardless of whether or not MKG is the second coming, and it would have been much more likely IMO that whichever of the two (Biz or AD) that doesn't fit our team 2-3 years down the road could easily be traded for an MKG type player, i.e. a particular fit, in upcoming drafts.

The rational I can of is that Biz himself is raw and to draft Drummond too be redundant as far as raw youth.

Some other things I caught from Part 1--

13.58: Thomas Robinson's name is bolded in the list of workout participants. I wonder if that means he stood out versus Drummond.... paused too soon, scout said he looked really good

14:40: Sounds like Cho is a fan of Drummond but can't justify to himself (or others) drafting another raw big man. Take him off the list


Part 2--

0:30: Higgins considers Robinson redundant with what our "strengths" already are and would probably need to trade somebody since he would have to start. Take him off the list

1:15: Cho says we "need some help at the 3 spot". This is starting to make me nervous that they went the need route instead of the BPA route

2:34: Looks like the Forward Hierarchy was Davis, Robinson, Gilchrist, Barnes, Henson, P. Jones, T. Jones and Guard Hierarchy is Beal, Lillard, Waiters, Rivers, Lamb, Marshall (cant see Centers).... more feelings that we went need over BPA

X: Really like just about everything I see about Dunlap. The season will really tell me for sure what my opinion is.

14:00: Love Cho's response and the other GM's pause like, "damn I thought I could fool him"


Part 3--

2:10: "Our number one scenario, it sounds like, would be to get extra value and get Gilchrist, right?" Sounds like the process settled onto him as the favorite. Dunno if it's need over BPA still, though

Absolutely great find engimaboy!!! Really good for us international fans, so interesting listening to all the behind the scenes work during the draft.

* Which idiot offered next years 2nd for our 2nd this year? It was a very deep draft and we had the 31st pick? I thought gm's were supposed to be clever...

* Also interesting to see it was between Tyshaun Taylor and Jeff Taylor at 31. I would have thought Quincy Miller would have been closer that Tyshaun

I'm glad we didn't draft Robinson but not drafting a rebounder b/c it would be redundant with our "strengths" is enough to make me want to choke Higgins to death. Tyrus can't box out a balloon, Biz is still learning, Mully thinks he's Bargnani, and DJ White was a waste of a roster spot.
