I think the point of Robinson being redundant is the FO views Byron and Biz as long-term members of the team, and while that hardly precludes another bigman being a centerpiece, they felt like Robinson's strengths were already covered between the two B's.

As for drafting on "need" I don't think that was the case, but rather they probably viewed MKG and Beal or MKG and Robinson as equal or close-to-equal talents, and felt like MKG would have the best chance to grow on this team. We all know the whole drafting a PG when you already have a starter business, I think they wanted to avoid that mess again.

If we didn't draft MKG, I would want us to have drafted Dre Drummond

Drummon and Biz on the same team is too raw, thats what I always thought and Cho pretty much agreed with me

I wish we had drafted Drummond, so what if he is raw. We are going to suck anyway, at least we would have had 2 big men for the future. I really believe that Drummond will have a better career than MKG. He has played really well in the preseason.

Drummond has looked very good no doubt but it's way too early to be second guessing the MKG pick.

No doubt he'd be having a quicker impact for us though just because he brings a lot of what we're lacking.

Lets see how he does half way through the season after he has played 42 games. One thing about Drummon was he was always very laid back and lacked motor. Sure it is easy to give 100% right now with gaps between games and having summer off but we will see what he is really made of around January time. Also Drummond strikes me as an inconsistant guy, he may get 20-10 one night but the next he could pick up 3 fouls in the 1st quarter and barley play. But do doubt he has skill, I think we basically picked Biz over Drummond probably due to Bizmack's attitude and drive to get better

true, but my thinking was both are projects and both have high ceilings. but, drummond's ceiling is a top 3 player in the league and mkg's is certainly not. plus you can't teach or coach size.

Eh I don't think I can see where anybody could guess Drummond has top 3 player in the league potential other than those being a little biased.

Realistically speaking, I haven't see anything from Drrummond to expect a player much better than DeAndre Jordan or JaVale McGee. From MKG, I can see anything from Crash to Deng to Iguodala.

*sits smugly in his smug chair*

Drummond has "it." He just looks like a player. All I had to see last year was AD1 playing the passing lane as a guard and sprinting like a deer at 270 lbs way faster than everyone on the floor for a dunk to know that his ceiling reached far into the "special" level. DeAndre Jordan or JaVale McGee don't have "it." They're both great athletes but only JaVale possesses the fluidity of a real player. Where AD1 trumps JaVale is that the latter can't go 2-3 plays before making a completely boneheaded play. The other thing that sets AD1 apart is he is athletic but with a strong lower base. That's pretty rarefied air for big men.

Sure, AD1 is going to go through his rough patches and hit his rookie wall, all rookies do, but he is clearly not as raw or as bad to disqualify him as a top 3 pick as people thought.

What's past is past and hopefully Cho & Co. learn from any potential mistakes made since remember that this is only Cho's 2nd year as the GM of a team, I think. (pretty sure he was under Presti at OKC/Seattle). I think MKG will be a good player, I'm just not sure MJ and the FO's competency is good enough for them to stay patient and reap the rewards of drafting MKG. My biggest fear is that next year around draft time our FO will go "this guys is NOT Scottie Pippen" and fall in love with the next media darling/winner/guy with most swag that doesn't necessarily fit the rebuild.
