Gerald Henderson - Hitting the 3

If Hendo can knock down the 3 ball he will be a serious big time player, he averaged 15.1 PPG and only hit 11 3 pointers last season !. I'm sure he has been working on hitting the 3 this off season and im looking foward to see what he can achieve this season.

He has no excuse to not be a 35% shooter. He's got great form he went to duke his best friend is Wayne Ellington his dad was a pro so its not like he's just an athletic guy who picked up the game late. I don't get it. Youd think a scratch golfer would have a knack for accuracy as well

I don't think McIlroy would be as good if a guy was trying to defend him.

I see what you're saying about the comparison of the two: you have to have proper technique practiced over and over again to produce the quality results. However, I'm sure there's a difference between Hendo shooting threes at practice and shooting them while being defended in the flow of a pretty mediocre (on a good day) offense.

Hopefully, he'll have a much better year. Dunlap has already said he wants to emphasize the 3 and attacking the rim, moving away from the mid range jump shot. I'm sure Hendo will still get shots there (they're "kill spots," to use a Dunlapism), but he'll have to shoot more outside, I imagine. He should be getting more open looks this year with so many more scorers on the wings.

Hendo will be on the wings alot this season so he will need to be able to knock down the tre

I think that 15 ppg will be his best going forward. Some of that scoring will be taken away by MKG, and Gordon. Henderson is a 7th or 8th man at best on a title team. Also he's had years to work on that 3pt shot and has not done it yet. I'm not optimistic he will develop it this year.

I'd rather see him getting to the basket more often than attempting the the long ball, we got plenty outside thread already.

he has got a good spin move to the basket and he used it more often last season, with Dunlap's stratergy i think he will attack the basket more

Some guys develop a jump shot, some don't. Look at Kidd for example, it took him years to master the 3. I don't think anyone can ever say someone will or won't develop a jump shot. However, you know with Hendo that if he does have the potential to hit the 3 he will reach it.
