Seems like the right approach for a really young team. Don't know if it would fly for a more veteran team though. I'm cool with Dunlap.

So far i think hes been the perfect coach for our team . 4 hour practice unheard of in Bobcats history. Dunlap reminds me of coack K with his structured style. Then again he reminds me of Jimmy V with the influnce he has on his players. Guss most of you guys never seen Jimmy V coach . Any way i thought it would instresting to see your thoughts on Dunlap at this point befor the real season really starts.
Thanks Ammofan!

From a coaches point of view 4 hours really is too long. I can understand he wants to run through a lot of info but he should have split it in half at least. A player can not learn for the entire 4 hours, so stuff will be forgotten

I like it. They have been warned anyway. After a 7-59 season, the guys who were here last season should have known that you don't continue to do what you are use to doing. You have to work to correct that. The new guys, I'm sure were introduced to what to expect when they signed on or were drafted.
4 hours is too long for a physical practice. but if the first hour was film and the last 30 minutes were free throws, i could see it. the young guys need it but if he is successful here, i hope he can change his approach as the team gets better. the same way pop has done in san antonio.
i absolutely loved the second point he made. "All that makes sense, but I still watched them score 87, off 40 percent shooting, Thursday against the Hornets. We’ll see." no amount of work can substitute for shitty talent.
i also loved how hendo said he liked the emphasis of 3's over guarded 2's. newsflash hendo: there is a reason you get open three's and guarded two's.
Agreeded , Its good for a very young team like ours . But i don't think it would go well on a team like the Lakers . But if Dunlap can turn this into a long term susessful program . Vets would buy in if it helped them win championships or net big contracts. The Jimmy V ,traits he has seem to make players love and trust what hes saying.
Thanks Ammofan!
i love it. the greats or even the longest tenured players put forth the extra hours to become what they are.
shaq used to complain about Rileys 3-5 hr practices and said they were disrespectful to the players
id like to see the first guy to step up and complain about it after getting paid millions of dollars to go out and get 7 wins. im sure Tyrus has thought about it
Is it ideal for Dunlap to continue this pace throughout the season? Even a young team can tire quickly after many long practices and a lot of full-court presses during games.
Not really. It's a great thing to do, making practices harder so that the games are easier but it's extremely difficult to adhere to for reasons you (twan's kin) stated above. But I applaud the effort. It's good to have this trick in your back pocket to threaten the players with if they start slacking. The hard part is making it seem like it's not punishment, or else players will feel like they're being disrespected.
