pre-season is over and feel my team assessment was mostly correct(tyrus paragraph). i stated that hendo is our best player, and will display an all-around good game, sessions is better suited than kemba, tyrus was back, mkg is not as good as ya think, and taylor will not be a factor. listen everyone this isn't 2k , most rookies are not the best players or even the 2nd at times.only pg's and big man make an immediate impact not wing players.
hendo put up good stats this preseason ,besides shooting around 38 percent ,hendo avg 12.1 pts, 2.5 assist, 3.3 rebs, and 1.4 stl in only 26 min. the 38 percent shooting obviously came from hendo taking way to many 3's . i've seen a few comments where ppl realize that that hendo mid-range is almost lg tops and he's developed the kobe/jordan post game ,so im glad ppl is taking note that hendo isn't just another "slasher".eveytime we sat hendo we started losing and when hendo played we were contenders(vs hornets,@mavs,and vs bucks). hendo will be a max guy because he does everything you need your starting guard can do; play defense, rebound, facilitate, and score more than one ways.
sessions out played walker like i knew he would. i not saying kemba had a bad preseason but his game isn't that of a point guard ,and i 've said plenty of times that kemba is a 6th man tweener for months. the problem with kemba being a tweener is that we have gordon ,so i would like to see who takes min from who. sessions played a great preseason except he started the preseason avg like 5 to's but quickly adapted . sessions displayed good court vision while finding his shot still.
i'm not a mkg basher but i thought it was foolish to even think that mkg was our best player at this moment and that taylor would even take mins away from hendo. i think ppl are getting mkg potential confused with now, yes mkg is 19 and has years to grow but at this point he's the same player as terrance williams or an younger iggy(iggy took like 5 yrs to develop an actual play style/identity).i also stated that mkg may be the odd man out when playing small ball or even in our starting rotation and i was correct. for a rookie playing the preseason he played really low min because its hard to find where to place him . i think mkg is an great team player who makes your team significantly better without being the primary player alike like tony allen, thebo safelosha, bruce bowen,t prince, battier, rodman.
taylor may never be a starter or even avg more than 25 min(unless injury). im not sure if anyone seen him play but he doesn't have 2-guard skills,i mean none. he can't drive , he's handle is horrible , he can't create for crap. taylor is 23 so he haven't developed any of these by now he won't. taylor is ok defender ,a spot up-shooter,and i can think of about 10 journeyman who can do all of the above and more.
tyrus has played very sparingly and as i expected he may have been injured.tyrus had one significant game he played big mins and he put up monster numbers , so thats i why i stated that i was mostly correct about my assessment. im somewhat losing my patience with tt because he's just to injury prone and it be the weirdest injuries.
i've mentioned mully like once before but i think he may be our 2nd best/important player. i always been weary about mully because his good games are really good and his bad games are really bad games. mully doesn't have in-between games but one thing i noticed about mully is that his good games are really great games. mully is like our 7 foot john starks, like when mully is on, he's on and can resemble that of a top 10 player. mully has the most diverse game i've seen from a 7 footer ,since shaq. mully runs the floor like a guard, soft shooting touch,33 inch vert, post game, and is very agile .mully is starting 2 grab rebounds at a high volume, and rotating on d. if we can get at least 15-20 mully nites, i feel we have an shot to make the playoffs. okc truly messed this one up.
