At 12 o'clock midnight tonight this thread will turn into the "Gerald Henderson Trade Talks" thread, and rightfully so. I'm sure he wouldn't get traded until around the February deadline, but that's what I see happening. It just makes sense.
Let him walk. There are plenty of better fish in the sea.
For perspective:

OJ Mayo got a 4 million for each of 2 years this past offseason. Mayo is about 1 month older and has better stats across the board on almost everything. What he's not better at he's close.

Trade Hendo to the Spurs for Danny Green, Dejuan Blair, and a future draft pick.
*you'd be surprised how close Hendo & Green are statistically - http://www.basketball-reference.com/...enda02&y2=2012

DeMar DeRozan gets 10 mil a year, that means Henderson is gonna want 8+ at minimum thats crazyness
Obviously if he wants 8 mil a year then we have to let him become restricted but I just think if we could sign him to a year year 10 million dollar deal that qould be smart becaus ehe has the tools to blossom in this league
It's 4/42 with incentives!
Check out some of the reactions (pulled off the RGM Raptor board):

Last convo I had with #Raptors exec re: DeRozan was that it was important to invest in work ethic. I guess so!Ryan Wolstat @WolstatSun
Wow, that's ... not a good contractRyan Wolstat @WolstatSun
$10 million a year for DeMar DeRozan when Ty Lawson makes $2 million a year more is not very good valueRyan Wolstat @WolstatSun
I'm glad I said "at least" $34 million in my piece earlier. Wow is about all you can say. Good for DeMar. Go out and prove us wrongRyan Wolstat @WolstatSun
What is the upside of locking DeMar in for this much now. Just don't get it. What do you have to lose waiting to match next year?Bruce Arthur @bruce_arthur
DeMar DeRozan PER by year: 12.5. 14.4, 12.8. True shooting percentage: .554, .530, .503. So, yeah. Wheee!John Hollinger @johnhollinger
Clearly, the Raptors looked at what Landry Fields got as an RFA and figured $40 million for DeRozan was fair value.Jonathan Givony @DraftExpress
42 million for a 6-6 guy who can't shoot feels like a lot.Eric Koreen @ekoreen
After spending $19m as well as the 8th pick on two SGs, I can't say this deal makes a lot of logical sense.Say what you want about Hollinger but he always has a good line!Eric Koreen @ekoreen
There's a chance if DeRozan had a great season he would have gotten a higher offer. But, the risk he doesn't live up to this deal is bigger
