Dash, I'm not trying to criticize or anything, really I'm not....but we haven't even seen the kid play a single NBA regular season game yet. Who knows what he'll turn out to be...he could end up just being a "glue guy" or he could prove to be much greater and turn out to be the best pick we've ever had. Honestly, call me crazy, but when we drafted MKG (and let me inform you that I do NOT watch a lot of college basketball, so I wouldn't say that I am the best judge when it comes to players coming out of college into the NBA) and I watched this video, it kind of reminded me of Dwayne Wade. Who knows? Maybe we got the next DWade.

In the video, the similar type comparisons were that DWade was a questionable shooter, physical player, defends well, and not afraid to take it to the whole and draw contact. A slasher. Sound familiar? And Heat fans were probably like, "why in the hell did we draft this kid when we already have Eddie Jones?" I know that they play different positions and you can bash me all you want, but both are referred to as "can really fill up a stat sheet". Bottom line is...lets see the kid play a few games first.

There's no time for depression any more, we had that all last season.

    Who?

Yeah, this guy, you remember his awesome sky hook, right? Anyone??

Anyway, I think SoloBrow will probably become an awesome player, but can we necessarily assume greatness? I mean, Joe Smith was a 6'10, 220 lb ultra athletic forward, picked number 1 overall for his versatility and potential, but who had a very mediocre career. Marcus Camby was supposed to be a can't miss star as a 6'11, 220 lb athletic forward who could change the game on the defensive side of the ball, but never became a star. Rasheed Wallace was another 6'10, 220 lb long athletic forward, who had range out to three, great defensive presence, and good general understanding of the game, but his career isn't really memorable outside of a couple techs here or there.

So Davis is another highly regarded, 6'10, 220 lb ultra athletic forward with versatile skills. While we may assume multiple all star births, I don't think he's necessarily guaranteed this greatness.

Plus, lets see what MKG gives us first. If he busts, I'll be depressed right along with you guys. But maybe Cho, Dunlap, and Jordan really did see something special in him, and he'll debut tomorrow with 25 points, 12 rebounds, 6 assists, 5 steals and 2 blocks!

I had 21 points in my debut for the Hornets way back in the day. Then I took an arrow to the knee.

....... That reference not cool anymore?

I dont see the Wade and MKG comparisons.

Wade has a much better handle and is way more crafty driving the lane and scoring.

MKG uses his quickness and athleticism when driving the lane.

MKG is a much better ball handler than most of us gave him credit for.

I'm happy we decided to draft the best talent available and not some project.

haha well.. I think we did probably get the second best talent available that day.. but he is still very much a project. Any one who comes in and the first thing the staff wants to do is tear down his shot to the ground and rebuild it, has to be considered a project.

I'm very happy with the MKG pick, but I'm still pissed we missed Davis under what seem to be dubious circumstances.
