Bobcats current future draft picks situation

Conversation in another thread got me thinking of different draft situations in the future.

A couple things:
No new information here, but I would like to get some opinions on our situation.

What do we want Portland and Detroit to do? First thing that comes to mind is have them lose for a season or 2 so we don't receive their picks until we can get them in good draft position, and have them be as bad as possible once the exceptions are not as restricting.

When does the reward start paying off versus getting new talent soon? Is the absolute best case we don't get the picks until we can get them at the number one draft position? Is it maybe better to have them staggered so that we can get say Portland's in a couple years at like the 8th draft spot, and Detroits a year or two later a bit higher?

Would it be a huge let down to get 3 picks in next years draft, even if 2 are around 12-14?

Next year, is there any projections on who might be going at the 12-14 spot?

Drafting next year, assuming we are bottom of the pack again, is Shabazz the clear frontrunner on who a team should choose? How much of a drop off is Nerlins Noell? Is anyone else in the running at the top of the pack? Is the situation like A. Davis, then everyone else?

If we somehow get Shabazz Mohamad, does that make keeping Henderson less vital, and do you think he would stick around if we got such a player at his same position?

With Wiggins being a wing in 2014 that seems a clear number one choice, does that make us look at Zeller or Noel harder this coming draft? Is it dumb to plan like that, considering the likelyhood of getting both is very low? No matter what is Shabazz the clear winner next season? An A. Davis situation?

It would be nice to get one of those picks this coming year, since we won't have a 2nd rounder.

Rule number one is just stupid.

You must take into account a teams personnel and also the talent gap between 2 players.

If you are picking 2nd and there isn't any talent gap between a wing player and a post player (ie you see them as both being ready to contribute at the same level with equal ceilings) and you just drafted your future big man the previous year high that played well than common sense tell you to pick the wing player.

I want both of the picks owed to us in the 2014 draft. That draft is loaded and will be headlined by Wiggins, Parker, Randle, Andrew/Aaron Harrison and it has the potential to be as good as '03(not saying it will be) but having 3 picks in the lottery(assuming we are bad enough to hold onto our own pick that we owe chi) then I think that is the ideal situation.

Even if we don't win the lottery to get Wiggins we can potentially package picks to move into the top 3 or we can pick up 3 solid HIGH picks that will go a long way in building this team into a contender.

As far as this year goes, the way it's looking Shabazz won't be eligibile until conference play if he is even cleared at all so we won't get to see too much of him.

The #1 pick will be either him or Nerlens, I think Nerlens will come on strong late in the College season. He has some of the quickest feet i've seen for a big man. Has extreme length, good defensive instincts, can work on his offense but it's not raw.

A sleeper top 5 pick that no one is talking about is Tony Mitchell, a 6'8 sf from North Texas, He won't fall out of the top 10. He's a freakish athlete, has a nba body already, his game screams Rudy Gay.

I think as far as the draft goes we continue with Cho's strategy- Draft for talent, trade for need

Absolutely right. It is just stupid to draft the BPA. I mean, why would the Trail Blazers need to draft some guy named Michael Jordan when they already have Clyde Drexler on their team.

Would be a much better decision to go with the big guy out of Kentucky, they need the size more!

I want those picks to come in a deep draft. I guess 2014 is deeper than 2013 but you never really know until draft time (and even then hindsight is 20/20). I'd like those picks to come sooner than later though, we just need that much help/talent.

There will be some decent players to be had mid 1st round this year. Not a lot of wings, some decent guards and some decent bigs. What would really hurt is if a Gobert or Steven Adams slips and fall to where we would have the pick and they look legit. But there's Lorenzo Brown and CJ Leslie from State, Gorgui Dieng from Louisville, Rakeem Christmas from Cuse, Isaiah Austin from Baylor, Mason Plumlee, Jeff Withey, and a guy I really like in Patric Young.

A guy I'm particularly keen on in 2014 is Dario Saric.
