Ok ... I guess my lack of emphasise on intended key areas of strength partially warranted that.
The SG I described would have 3 point shooting and tenacious defence as his primary strengths. He would be known for these.
His secondary abilities would be sufficient ability in driving to the basket to keep defenders honest and an ability to pick out a pass that keeps the offence moving and averages 3-4 assists per game.
I think it was the Mavs game when Hendo tried a lob to pass to a player and missed him entirely! Our SG has to be better than that at passing the ball. His Assist to Turnover Ratio is 1.7, was 1.3 last season (needs to be over 2.0). However he is currently shooting a very decent 0.400 from the 3, hit a woeful 0.234 last season; in fact it's better than his current Field Goal % of 0.348, last years very good 0.459 is more indicative.
So a high level defender, high motor guy who's stats are in the region of: A/TO >2.0, 3P% >0.425 & FG% >0.450 would be great. FWIW, I'd love to see Hendo get there ... but I don't see it happening, especially re. his passing.

Aaron Afflalo fits the bill, great defender, good 3 point shooter and has played some point so has decent handles and passing... Not sure if Afflalo is my dream SG...

In terms of style of play, a young Arron Afflalo is exactly what I would want on our team. I think he compliments Kemba's & MKG's games very well. He's a Shooting Guard that can both Shoot & Guard. We have Kemba & MKG to drive to the basket.
If we're talking 'dream' them I'd want a better version of him, but in reality I'd be very happy to draft a young player of his calibre & style.

If Arron Afflalo's game doesn't spell treadmill, then somehow someway it must spell elliptical, because he's a good player and all but I don't see any team going far with him as their starting SG. He's 1st round exit material.
I'm not suggesting we trade for Afflalo, simply that drafting a young Afflalo clone would fit this team very well.
Similarly I'm not saying that a team with Arron as the 1st or 2nd scoring option is what we're aiming for.
To me a player of his ilk is a good guy to have on the team and would balance out our back-court & wings very well. We'd still need to draft/trade/sign a Star 20+ point scoring Big in this scenario, but an Afflalo type player would be a damn good complementary piece to have.
I'd rather draft a better player than Afflalo

Assuming we're picking in the top 5 then absolutely, I'd want someone better too ... a difference maker.
But if one of our owed picks comes in at the 10-15 range I think an Afflalo type SG would be a suitable return on that pick (he was a steal at 27).
Just my two cents worth ...
