Actually he didn't. He said that they would certainly consider it...but in no way did he say that we WOULD change our name if the previous one became available.

Just for the record- the name change or lack there of will not effect my amount of fandom. I'm a huge basketball fan, I love the NBA, and I love my hometown. I will pull for this team no matter what they are called, as long as the 1st name is Charlotte. I have a preference for the nickname but, no matter if it changes or not- I will support this team as I always have.

The fact that is says Charlotte is the most important part for me and always has been. ( which is why I don't pull for the New Orleans Hornets)
    I respect that.

Anyone see all the "Flight" branding inside the arena? there are old school planes hanging at various spots and theres a sweet logo of "The Flight Deck" in the hallways as well.. I think theres a good chance there will be a poll between the Flight and Hornets when the Hornets brand becomes available.

    Wasn't implying anything negative

Only meant that, just as college basketball thread always brings me around and a thread on fetish porn always brings dnbman around, a rebrand thread always seems to get a response from you.

In honor of Swedd knowing me to well, I will post this here.

Evidently, Gail Benson announced during the Hornets pre-game show that the new name for the New Orleans franchise will be announced at the end of the season and the official colors will be Red, Navy, and Gold.

Up until now, there hasn't been anything concrete beyond Tom Benson's opening press conference, this makes it sound like it is a 100% certainty that the Hornets name will be available at the end of the season.

One step closer to Hugo coming home!

They seem to think Cardinals is the frontrunner for the new name. Guess it makes some sense considering Red-Gold-Navy. Be interesting to see one of those guys do a Cardinals logo/jersey mockup like we've seen in the past for other names. Like that better than Pelicans too, not a bad choice.

I'll say, if we bring the hornets back, I don't think we should simply take everything back like it never left. Rename Hugo, update the logo, maybe tweak the colors, etc. They can keep the Honeybees name though.
