Instead of spending millions on a name change, I'd rather us spend those millions on draft picks or some nice FAs. You know...actually basketball related things.

I'd still be a fan if we changed names, but I sort of have the mentality of "We suffered as Bobcats. Now it's time to win as Bobcats"

We all know the arena wouldn't start selling out rockin every night just for a name change. People still hate the arena, hate the team, hate NBA, hate local sports. Charlottes just a crappy sports city. Panthers get no support either.

Damn Debbie Downer. I don't know anyone (besides useless 90 year old crumudgeons) who still hate the arena, that place is beautiful and useful and the area around it is thriving. And as far as crappy sports city I think thats bogus too. The panthers and bobcats have given NOTHING to watch or be excited about over the past 5 years and both stadiums aren't even close to the bottom of attendance numbers. In fact... despite being HORRIBLE and having a 3 win season so far, the Panthers are number 6 on the attendance list! Averaging 3K more a week than Green Bay, a city that is notorious for loving their team and hasn't missed a sellout in 60+ years. And the Bobcats are 23rd on the NBA list despite having literally the worst record of all time a season ago. 8 teams who had a better record last year are selling less tickets than the Bobcats.

The team is named the Bobcats and need to stay that way. Charlotte is now Bobcats town, the Hornets have moved away and are in the past. Just like everyone said - it would be like taking your horrible gf back after she hurt you.

One thing this city has proven is it will get behind a winner. I reference this a lot when I hear this crap. The same Hornets team that was struggling with attendance and all that got hot in the playoffs and swept Miami in the 1st round back in 2001. Hornet fever captivated the city until a Game 7 loss to Milwaukee in the 2nd round.

Panthers get more support from other teams fans traveling here than they do from Charlotteans for the most part.

It's not at all like getting back with your ex! We are not getting Shinn back. We are getting our rightful name back. The team didn't break up with us. I'm a huge Bobcats fan either way, but I know so many people that would start being fans because of that. I personally don't agree with that view, but that's some people's opinion. I do think this team is on the way up, so with increased winning and the name change, I think the fever will be back.

Shinn is the rich asshole with the fancy car who stole her away. We didn't get her (Hornets) back until she found out he cheated on her and she came crying back looking for "comfort".

but I know so many people that would start being fans because of that.
Have no fear, those are the type of people who would find some other excuse to not be a fan. "I won't start being a fan until they get rid of MJ!" "I won't be a fan until they start winning"

I truly think changing the name back to the Hornets would bring some fans back. But they wouldn't stay long and would probably come around when/if the Bobcats start winning anyway

Swedd- I think you are under estimating the passion that some of us have for that brand. There will be people that go all in from day 1.

Your right some people will always look for a reason to be anti-anything. We will never get those people no matter what the name is.

Your analogy doesn't make sense to me, Hugo and the Hornets didn't leave us, they were kidnapped and held hostage.

WarioVsMoochicken- we can spend money on a rebrand and still have free agents, etc. Operating budget and Salary Cap aren't related. It's not like the pro-Hornets people are saying we would rather MJ spend money on the name change at the expense of signing a Max FA. Our stance is it will increase revenue and provide incremental $'s that would pay for the rebrand and then some. I understand your point of view of suffering as a Bobcat and would like to see some reward. I would love some reward too. Winning would be fun no matter the name. But, for me winning as a Hornet would be sweeter. Different strokes!
