Would you rather have some combination of Crash, Jack, Felts, and Diaw, or the group we have now? Don't answer that.

I'd gladly listen to any suggestions of how to make a small market team like Charlotte a championship contender without consistently drafting very high.

The OKC model hasn't worked yet for OKC and it probably won't win them a title. They couldn't afford their young core. Their important piece, and their only one that makes them even pretender status is Durant, and only Durant. Consistently drafting high is meaningless, its all about getting that 1 guy. I happen to think MKG is that guy for us, maybe you don't. Just opinion at this point.

this thread is going to either be relevant all year or be a hilarious bump from 10 pages back by the end of the year.

they were literally 12 plays away from a ring. it has worked for them. rings aren't guaranteed. getting to the title game or conference finals is what we are all talking about here.

Its worked because Durant developed from a scrawny chucker that brought little else to the game to an elite scorer and now becoming an all around player. Westbrook has always been a distraction. Harden was good but they couldn't afford him, so they lost him.

Some of you people crack me up.

Unless you can tell me which superstars are gonna come to Charlotte than the only way for us to be legit contenders is to suck balls and get multiple top 3 picks that we need to nail.

    This stuff isnt rocket science.

MKG is a much better player than rookie Durant.
Jeff Green was a bust? He average 16.5ppg his second season (OKC only made the playoffs in Durant's 3rd season)

The drafted Durant and Jeff in one draft...then Westbrook and Ibaka...then finally got Harden in the 3rd season...

Oh and about Durant , he averaged 21 ppg and "chucked" 17.8 shots a game...Which in his 5 years ranks as second lowest...So far this year (His 6th season) he's only taking 15 shots a game...

Even I have gone ahead and said MKG will be an All Star...but I'm going to say he is going to be better than Durant...that's just ridiculous..

Call them a crapshoot all you want but history shows higher draft picks are more valuable

And I'm not saying suck until we have multiple legends. I'm saying we're going to be better in the long run sucking until we get our centerpiece. That could be as soon as next year or longer. Who knows, but I know OKC is more valuable and marketable than one like Memphis or Indiana and has a much brighter future than any other team in the entire league. You'd be crazy to not want to be in their position

I'm still waiting for an example of this model ever actually succeeding. OKC did it the very best and its fringe contenders because Durant is a super superstar, TWolves stockpiled top picks forever now and they aren't contenders or future contenders most likely, Kings can't even become semi decent, Cavaliers have done it 2 years in a row now and they aren't any closer to being contenders. You don't need a lot of players, you need ONE player.

And how are you gonna get that 1 player without sucking?!?

Charlotte isnt Miami, NY, or LA nor does it have the history of Celtics.

Suck until you land that superstar. Thats our only option.
