Last point....I think our model is San Antonio. Where were Parker and Ginobili drafted? Yes they had David Robinson and Tim Duncan, but they proved with smart GM moves and drafting well, you can find superstars late in the draft and overseas. Kemba, Biz, and MKG were high 1st round picks. I'm cool if they are the core, and we build intelligently around them.

Manu and Parker are much more the exception than the norm in any "draft a star" scenario.

We should worry about development and not draft position. We have a great core of players.

Kemba has improved greatly. He is tony parker-esqe. I dont beleive he hit his ceiling so I know he can improve even more. He can create off the on and off dribble better. Become a better passer. Improve his outside shooting. These are just some of the things that he can improve on.

Taylor is a quality defensive Sg. He can hit the outside shot but can get better. He can improve with his on ball D to become our teams Tony Allen but with an outside shot.

MKG is the heart of this team IMO. He is on the path of becoming a Star. He contributes to the team on both offence and defense. Once he develops his shooting touch, he will become so much more dangerous. Players will start to play up on him which can lead to easier drives and doubles teams to pass to an open player.

Mully is starting to become a more important part of our offense. He developing more of a post presence as the season goes on. He allows us to stretch the floor for those easier drives. He also has become better at defense and at rebounding. This is a person we got for a 2nd rounder.

Biz is still a project and has so much room to grow. Once he learns the game better, he can become that feared shot blocker that we always expect.

There is nothing stopping these guys from improving greatly. There was a reason why we brought in Dunlap, he brought in to "develop" the talent. I feel like we are one great piece away from becoming a quality playoff team. That great piece will come in time but in the mean while, lets worry about how can we get these guys better.

I think the real problem here isn't the team philosophy, its people reading too much into the first 10 games of an 82 game season. Of course you don't worry about draft picks if this team never loses again. But they will lose again, and it will happen more than we win.

I'm willing to bet we aren't still having this conversation by Dec. 31.

kinda sad when the RealGM general board of all places is more optimistic about our players than our own damn board

My point was to say that we don't HAVE to pin our hopes and dreams on Top 5 picks. There's more than one way of building a successful team.

Can you guys imagine if we'd have had the draft picks and or pieces to add James Harden to this core group with Kemba, MKG, Mullins, Biz etc.? IF we aren't gonna draft a guy we HAVE to have at least one star guy on this squad to become a legit championship team and that's if our guys continue to develop. I think some of you are already forgetting where we have been with this franchise and letting the wins get to your heads a bit. If we wanted to just make the playoffs what was the point in trading off the whole team a couple seasons ago

Jabari Parker could be the biggest Mormon in the history of the world, but hes still coming to the NBA after college.

And hopefully we won't be in a position to draft him, or this franchise would have taken 10 steps backwards.
