Default Jeff Taylor versus Gerald Henderson

Let me preface this by saying that I'm not creating this with the intention of it becoming a "bash Henderson" thread. But as a Henderson fan, I have to ask myself honestly...

"What can Gerald Henderson give the Bobcats that Jeff Taylor cannot?"

That is my question. Can anyone give me an answer?

The way Jeff Taylor and the Bobcats are playing without Gerald Henderson I'm not sure I see him in our future. Unless he comes back and plays at an all-star level I think Cho should try trading Henderson for a big man that can score before the trade deadline.

If you're Cho, are you thinking a Henderson/Diop trade for a PF? Perhaps one from the Jazz?

If Taylor keeps this up, Henderson's greatest contribution may be what he can net the Cats in a trade. It's not that Henderson is terrible, it's just that he's not a good fit with MKG since neither have shooting range. And I don't think MKG is going anywhere.

I don't think Utah would be willing to part ways with Favors, Millsap and Jefferson's contracts expire after this season. So unless we could get an extension from one of them I wouldn't trade for them.

I am also a Henderson fan but the more i watch Taylor the more i feel like Henderson is expendable...the only problem i see is when we trade Gordon next season that we will have a hole at backup SG if Taylor is our starter...although thats not a major problem...but honestly im starting to think that Taylor might be our guy...and im sure Cho and the front office are taking notice...also if we have the luxury of having Taylor as our starter it will save us alot of $$...the $$ we are going to offer Henderson on a long term deal...why pay Henderson 6-8 million a year when we have a guy who plays better defense and whos offensive game continues to improve...and more important he is playing on a 2nd round rookie contract

If we dont have to give Henderson a long term deal then that just gives us even more slary cap freedom to spend elsewhere....if there is a team out there that would be interested in Henderson / Diop combo for a player and draftr pick or for a starting PF then i would do it...especially if we could swap those 2 for Milsap...get a verbal agreement with Milsap on a long term deal and then make it happen...Utah should be all for it ...if they can get a 9 mill expiring contract and a solid talent in Henderson for a guy they are prob going to let walk then its almost a no brainer...its something we should seriously consider...and im sure Cho has already been making calls..

I'm not sold on Jeff Taylor being "the guy" at SG, but he's definitely made Hendo very expendable. Not to mention that JT adds shooting range that Hendo never really showed in several seasons, but it seems like he's a better defender as well

This was the point of my Henderson thread about his contract.

I would love to have them both and give the opposing teams shooting guards 48 minutes of hell but, I'm afraid Hendo will want too much money.

If we don't think Hendo will sign for a reasonable price and he could land us a big man or a 1st rounder, we have to give him up.

Hurts to say that because he seems like a great guy and good teammate and represents the team well but, it's a business and it looks like he is becoming expendable.

I'm wondering and guessing that Cho may have planned for this when he drafted JT. I wondered why we drafted two sf. But when JT started playing SG, I started to wondered if it marked the end for Hendo if contract negotiations go south.

sent from the pseudo GM offices of the Charlotte Bobcats.

Gerald has some value to us right now because he could probably help our stagnant half court offense. Our next building block is obviously an all star level big which makes the half court so much easier. If/when we get that guy, Jeff is the much better option going forward.
