Default Ramon Sessions - 6th Man Of The Year So Far...

Sessions has been a terrific player for us coming of the bench this season and he's been very influential in our 7-5 start. Averaging 17.2 PPG, 4.3 APG, 3.8 RPG, 1 SPG in our first 12 games and he also has made 67-82 Free Throws !!.

anyone else think he his a candidate for 6th man of the year so far ?

So far, he has to be a leading candidate. I am sure he will get some love from the press on the issue, but not nearly as much as he would if he was playing in a market like NY or LA. Kinda fear that him being a Bobcat is going to work against him in the voting. But if MKG can stay up there in the Rookie Rankings and at least make a respectable run at ROY, then it will help Sessions.

Sessions is definately in the running for 6th man of the year..i would say Sessions and Jamaal Crawford are the 2 guys fighting for the award at this point in the season... a week or 2 ago i would have said Crawford was in the drivers seat hands down...bc at that time Sessions was averaging like 15.8 points a game and Crawford was averaging around 21 points a game..since that time the race for 6th man of the year has gotten alot tighter

As it stands right now Sessions line looks like this ..17.2 points 4.3 assists 3.8 rebounds 1 steal 2 turnovers..while shooting 40% from the field 22 % from 3 and 82% from the line

Crawfords stat line looks like this ...........................18.6 points 2 rebounds 1 assist 1 steal 2 turnovers...while shooting 47% from the field 41% from 3 and 93 % from the line

There stats are somewhat similar...Sessions is rebounding the ball a little better and obviously distributing the ball much better then Crawford...but on the flip side...Crawford is shooting better from the field and the line and is much better from 3 point range..

Its still very early in the season but i think that the 6th man award will come down to these 2 guys...we will just have to see how it plays out...the 1 thing that im afraid Crawford has on his side is the fact that in the long run the Clippers are a better team and will prob make a deep run into the playoffs while the Bobcats will be lucky to make the playoffs at all and more then likely wont...so if this is a big factor in the voters minds then that edge goes to Crawford..it will be fun to watch as the season progresses and its really nice to have a guy who is even in the running for an award...when was the last time we could say that...and dont forget we also have Kemba in the running for Most Improved Player of the Year...

Even is Sessions doesnt win 6th man of the year im very glad we have the guy..he has been amazing for us and is looking like the Bobcats best free agent find ever..and to get him at 2 years for 5 million a year is a pretty fair deal for both sides ( Crawford also makes 5 mill a year )...it would be really nice if we could resign Sessions to a long term deal...to be able to have the combo of Kemba and Sessions for many years to come would really help quicken the pace of our improvement as a team...with him being a local guy ( Myrtle Beach i think ) my guess is that he will want to continue playing here...and i hope i speak for every1 when i say we would love to have him long term....and he is only 26 years old

Sessions makes a strong case for 6th man of the year if it was decided at this moment. However, the standings will be a decisive factor and I don't think ours will be as good as the clippers' or the spurs' etc. at the end of the year. As for MIP, I don't really think Kemba would qualify because he's just a sophomore. I think someone like O.J. Mayo is probably more suited.

I remember reading that Sessions opted out from the Lakers because he wanted more contract security, so it's a definite possibility he could take a discount to sign here. The way Kemba said in an interview that this team is real close lends me to think some of the younger guys like Hendo and Sessions may want to stick together.

On the other hand, I swear Ben Gordon is trying to showcase himself everytime he comes into the game, lol.

Kemba is definately qualified to be most improved...but i totally forgot about OJ Mayo....he has that award locked down...the guy is playing out of his mind....what a steal for Dallas

I agree with the sentiment, but guys selected for those awards are usually on fairly strong teams right? We're going to have to keep up the winning for either of them to be recognized.

If the Bobcats are getting an award it's either for coach of the year or executive of the year IMO.

Hate to burst any bubbles but we have 70 games left in the season....No one has anything on lock; not Sessions, not Mayo, not anyone. What has happened so far isn't even an indication of where we might be by the all star break.

I'm very happy with how good Sessions is playing though. As someone who's been following him since he got a spot on the Bucks, it's nice to see he's found a way to stick in the league.

Betcats I agree that we have a long long way to go ..but it is nice to talk about it ..I think we r just having a little fun with it.. But honestly I don't see Sessions just all of a sudden falling off the map..even though it's only been 12 games I think Sessions has proved that he is in the right system and on the right team ..it's not as if he is a streaky shooter and he is going to go in a slump ..it's actually the opposite ..he has been average from the field and absolutely horrible from 3 .. He ..along with Kemba and MKG seem to be getting majority of his points in the paint with strong takes to the basket

I haven't looked at the the stats of the 6 man on every team.. I have have only looked at Jamaal Crawfords stats but I find it really hard to believe that any1 is putting up the #s that Sessions is ..and I'm not just talking about scoring ..he has a solid stat line across the board....17.2 points 4.3 assists 3.8 rebounds and 1 steal ..this #s could change for the better or for the worse but my guess is at the end of the year his averages will be pretty close to where they are now

I expect him to be in the running come seasons end ..and like I mentioned earlier and some1 else mentioned ..I think when it comes to 6th man award that the teams performance will play a big role in that ..and it's going to be hard for Sessions to when that battle bc Crawford plays for the Clips and they should be a contender out west

I love what Sessions is doing so far and I really hope he keeps it up..it would be great to have that award come back to Charlotte ..it hasn't been here since ol Dell Curry won it many years back ..I also think we will be in serious contention for Coach of the Year ( if we can get to 35+ wins ) and executive of the year
