Default MKG statistically better in NBA than in college

One of my concerns about MKG at draft time: Even though he was considered a lock down defender with a Gerald Wallace type of game, he didn't have a tremendous amount of blocks and steals.

So far so good in the NBA. After 12 games, here is how NBA MKG stacks up to college MKG on a per-40 minute, pace-adjusted basis.

    points 16.1 NBA, 15.3 NCAA
    rebounds 9.5 NBA, 9.5 NCAA
    steals 1.8 NBA, 1.2 NCAA
    blocks 2.1 NBA, 1.2 NCAA
    FG% 47.2 NBA, 49.1 NBA

    *sigh*

You can make all sorts of numbers up between per 40 and pace adjusted stats considering the NCAA uses a 35 second shot clock and the NBA works with a 24.

Alot of players have better stats in the NBA than in college...

Look at what Harrison Barnes has done the last week and a half.

I can understand that with scoring, but to be able to get significantly more blocks and steals in the bigger/faster/stronger NBA is a pleasant surprise, especially since defense was a big focus for MKG at Kentucky too.

Whether pace adjusted or not, any way you slice it MKG is doing statistically better in the NBA.

How about we just not ever look at statistics in basketball? Better yet, let's just eliminate mathematics altogether from human culture....

Actually the past week and a half he has been better, and I HATE Harrison Barnes.

Encouraging, but let's remember he has only played 13 games in the NBA. He's going to hit a rookie wall at some point, and more than likely during this next 2-3 week stretch.

There are literally at least a dozen more possessions in a typical NBA basketball game than a college one because of the shorter shot clock. This would be like comparing the finish times between a 400 mile race and a 500 mile race. Its not equivalent data.
