    Default Rudy Gobert

And once again the bobcats are looking at a foreign player with incredible measurements. Definitely not saying I'm against it. Some info. He has a 7-10 wingspan and is 7-2. Great shot blocker. Projected 4th by draft express and 12th by nbadraft.net could potentially fill up the center spot. Also what is everyone's opinion on trading up? Our pick and possibly the blazers if its outside the top 12. Thoughts comments?

I really like the idea of a guy with a 7'10'' wingspan that is sic. Looking at his numbers I like his high fg% but the low rebounding numbers are really concerning.

Drafting big guys is just like buying a lottery ticket though. You just aren't going to find many sure things in the draft. We need four guys of this potential on the roster and hopefully one or two will start looking like studs by the third year.

Like most Euros, I don't know more than what I've read on websites and the compilation vids on youtube. For me, he looks like a hybrid of Ajinca and Austin Daye

    Default Freakish length=issues??

I'm all about some good length on a player, but when a guy starts to get above a 7'5" wingspan, I get skeptical.

    Ajinca has, what, 7'9"??

    Bismack has, what, 7'7"?

The jury is still out on Bismack, but neither one of those guys is tearing it up. Ajinca is plain bad.

It's almost like when a player is FREAKISHLY long, it hinders their coordination or reaction time. Anybody else get what I'm trying to say??

Ajinca looked outstanding shooting alone in a gym and getting measured. His problem is he has no feel for 5-on-5 basketball. Was always very slow to react to plays even though he was "fast" for a big man.

There's a bit of selection bias in that assumption. Nowadays, big guys simply aren't as good as they used to be so you're going to have a smaller sample size to draw from since we don't have measurements from most past players.

We do have Shaq at 7'7, Mourning at 7'6.5, and Shawn Bradley at 7'5.

I'd bet guys like Russell, Wilt, Hakeem, Kareem, Moses, etc all had wingspans in that range as well. So it's not out of the question.

Even now, we have guys like Durant, Aldridge, Elton Brand, Brook Lopez, Anthony Davis, Larry Sanders, Cousins, DeAndre Jordan, JaVale, Drummond, and Haywood who are all in that 7'5"+ range that are capable NBA players

Good point. I had forgotten about a few of those guys(Cousins, Sanders). But of course I have to counter.....

Remove Durant, A.Davis, and Aldridge from your list. They are all 7'5" wingspan or below, so they illustrate MY point, not yours. I wrote that once a player gets ABOVE 7'5", I get skeptical. And Lopez and Brand are only at 7'5.5", so I'm gonna claim them on my side too. We'll call it "poetic license"?...

The Shaq, Zo, and Bradley measurements are completely speculative based on newspaper articles. We don't have any official numbers on them. Bradley shouldn't even count since he was freakishly 7'6" and a complete disappointment as an NBA player anyway.

Hakeem, Russell, and Moses could have very easily had wingspans below 7'5.5". Moses never looked all that long to me. And Russell was only 6'9". We'll never know.

If you go to the draftexpress pre draft measurement database and click on "wingspan", for every "name" player near the top of the list, there are many no-name "measurement wonders" who never made it in the league.
