Well, Mullens went back the next several possessions to post up on the block and never received the ball.
Exactly ... I think he has some real promise in the post and has the length and variety of moves to score off either hand.

This is precisely why I created this thread, I really feel we're not maximising the ability that Mullens & Haywood have in the post. I seems as though it's an afterthought for our Offence, whereas I'd like to see it become a staple when there's a mismatch as per Mullens-Young in the last game.

In addition Mullens has shown some ability to pass the ball, so if he's effective in the post and the opposition are forced to double him he can then pass out to a Taylor or Gordon.

Again, I'm not saying he's great at it but I see potential there that we're simply not exploiting.

So long as we see growth...remember this is a development year and that's Dunlap's #1 priority, not wins. Also remember that Dunlap is a defensive minded coach and he's going to focus more on that more than offense.

Absolutely agree with you about development being Dunlap's No.1 priority spectre, and that's precisely why I'm keen to utilise our Post players more. It will aid the development of Mullens, our 1s and our Offence as a whole.

As to your last point about Defence being intentionally ahead of the Offence, I'm with you on that and maybe they will bring add a bit more Post play into the Offence as the season moves on. I certainly hope so.

It seems like every week people find new ways to defend Mullens

Dunlap can preach defense to the guy every night, but as you can see the guy still doesn't know his left from right on the defensive end of the floor - why is it any different on offense? Mullens only plays because we have no one else to play other than him. Its also why you see 4 guards on the floor at the same time.

If we weren't so completely screwed on bigs inside, I'd be all for trading him to a team that sees all of the guys Potenshul and let them figure it out. As long as we get a 1st out of him, I'm too happy. Eventually we're gonna have to decide if we want to pay him or not and because the going rate for a 7 footer with upside, I want no part of it.

How about we lay off Stylesg1234. If you don't want to read his posts then just scroll past them.

Keep posting away, I read them and I'm sure others do as well.
