Trade his ass for the first expiring/1st offer we can get. In no way would I even consider an extension.
Ben Gordon giveth and he taketh away. Personally I think it's much more the latter vs. the former.
Right now Ben Gordon is shooting lights out and becoming a more valuable player. Considering his situation the front office is going to have a tough decision to make come trade deadline with him. If he continues his play many teams are going to want him and will be willing to give up either a players or picks valuable to the Bobcats. I think the FO has to choices either trade him at the deadline or get him to agree to an extension. If the money is right I wouldn't be opposed to signing him long-term, since he can score in bunches and many good teams have a player that can do that. By trading Gordon we could add another 1st rounder, maybe a decent big man, and likely get rid of Diop or Thomas, preferably TT since he is here longer.

I agree, and I prefer that we do trade him. I'm not sure though which teams would be willing to trade for him. Utah is a possibility and maybe somehow we could get a 1st rounder and Kanter. I'm not sure they would want to trade Jefferson or Millsap since they will likely be pushing for a playoff spot and it could hurt the team by losing one of them. Kanter has potential to be a decent starter and at worst would be a good backup Center. I think by waiting until trade deadline we might be able to get the most out of the trade, since some teams could be desperate.
If we can get a first round pick, then absolutely make that trade. i don't think it will happen this year though. i think he will be with the team the whole year and THEN we trade him next year as he'll be a great bench shooter for a playoff team along with an expiring. He and Hendo packaged, might be able to pull in something nice.
His player option is for like 13 million or something. He's not opting out of that
Utah are not giving up Kanter, keep dreaming

Ben Gordon is one of my many favorite players and I was happy when we were able to acquire him but I never expected for him to be with us for long so trading him is the inevitable option. Even though he's due for a $13 million player option I can see him opting out to accept a 3-5 year deal with a championship contender for the MLE. I would love to retain him but he's just not what we need going forward. Gordon can look like a All-Star when he has a defensive minded frontcourt behind him like he had at the Bulls but unfortunately we have Mullens.
