The Bulls might amnesty Boozer come next year and have been looking for Gordon's replacement since his departure having yet to have a SG avg over 15 since. With Brandon Roy all but done I could see Minny needing him. Utah might not want to deal there big names and may try to resign them so some expiring deal might be appealing to them.

@ Chef ..I have to disagree with u ..there are alot of teams with very high payrolls..in the 2013/14 season there are 13 teams who's payroll is over 62 million and 10 teams over 70 million..that puts 10 teams above the 70 million luxury tax threshold..there aren't many owners who want to be above that luxury tax number ( Lakers being the exception ) bc they have to pay some hefty penalties ..with that being said I'm pretty confident that at least half of those 10 teams and probably all of them would be more then happy to send us a player and a pick for Gordon's expiring deal to get them under the luxury tax #
With Ben Gordon, there is only one priority: sell high.
As has already been said, he's not a part of the core. He was a means to an end, who happened to provide a sorely lacked skill on the team. However, he does have an elite shooting ability, and when he's in an NBA JAM zone, he can be one of the most dangerous players in the league (for a good 5-8 minute spurt).
I think he'll start to get a ton more interest once the trade deadline rolls around. All the playoff teams will start to jockey for position, and they're all looking for any extra weapons to push them to the next level. Even with his streakiness and lack of defense, his instant offense off the bench is something every playoff team will covet for times when games start to grind down to a halt.
I keep thinking a match made in heaven would be Gordon and Mike D'Antoni. The Lakers need 3 point shooters, and Gordon would be shooting wide open threes all game, what with Kobe and Nash drawing defenders, or with Dwight and Pau's post and kick game. He'd probably end the year shooting 60% from 3 with the Lakers.
But I think any contender would love to go down the stretch run with Gordon as a nitrous oxide boost to take them over the hump. I could see New York, Brooklyn, and Dallas wanting another deep threat to spread the floor for their stars. Boston would seem like a great place for them to replace Ray Allen's deep threat. The Spurs always love good shooters, but Pop may murder Gordon for his defensive inability.
Players with the ability to drop over 20 points in a quarter are a rare breed. Deep teams that could bring him off the bench, or afford to put him away when he's off would be a perfect fit. So I'm fine with Dunlap showcasing his 3 point bombing ways, someone's bound to bite the bait in February.

keep in mind, amnestied players count as total payroll but NOT as LT figures. that means the only teams over the $72 mil LT in 2013 are:
lakers
nets
heat
knicks
bulls
griz
nuggets
aside from the nuggets, none of those teams are at all concerned about the cap. and the nuggets have zero need for gordon and at his salary value would be forced to give up major players to make the $ match. more than likely they would be moving a minor contract like a matt caroll type deal.
golden state would be over, but they have a shit-ton of expirings that year so again no deals with them should be expected.
that leaves teams that are under but will have to sign rookies to bigger deals etc. none of them would be looking to move 12-13 mil in salary to do that because they won't have those type of deals on the roster to begin with.
i know there are other teams that may use him, but none of the teams you have mentioned have any assets. the lakers have no picks, the knicks have no picks (amare and melo deals), the nets have no picks or assets and the mavs have no assets or great young players either.
the big hindrance to moving gordon is the size of his contract. it will be a tough match with multiple players and/or teams needing to be involved.
For those reasons you guys just stated above me, I believe Gordon will opt in for his $13 million contract next year, and we'll trade him just like we did with Maggette for a pick or a young player with upside, or possibly a pick and a bad contract coming back once again. Does anyone know when the contracts start for next season, before or after the draft?
One team I could see this happening for next year are the Lakers. That's supposed to be Kobe's last year before he "retires", and I'm sure the Lakers will be in full out win now mode with no restrictions on acquiring parts that they need. No doubt Gordon would be a huge beneficiary in D'Antoni's system. In that scenario though, what we get back I am totally clueless on.
