I stand corrected, MJ has little to no incentive to delay the change.

Another gem: I think a lot of fans associate the Bobcats brand with those months upon months of ill feelings during our down years. Kind of a subconscience thing; I can imagine how the wizards fans would conjure up bad memories at the sight of their blue and gold branding. These bad feelings are still lingering, at least for me, even with MJ's slight Bobcat modifications. The more you can foster positive thinking...the better: which I think the Hornets brand could do.

Contrary to what Robert Downy Jr. said, the Pels should've gone full retard with the logo.

Interesting quote from league office. NBA VP Mike Bass: League continues "to work with the Charlotte Bobcats on exploring whether a name change" makes sense long-term.

Just my two-cents, but I believe the NBA does not want the Hornets brand to die. Now, whether they can force MJ and the Bobcats' hand on changing names is another issue altogether. IMO, as long polling shows at least a slight majority in favor of switching back to Hornets, the league will probably recommend a swap and will try to grease the rails to make it easy.

Default Hornets to change name 2013-2014 season

If they give us some Money towards it that would help
    Michael Kidd-Gilchrist
Kema Walker The Core, The Future...
    Bizmack Biyombo
    Jeffrey Taylor

I hope to see this happening. Bobcats become the Charlotte Hornets but keep the more modern wearable color scheme they currently have. Blue Grey Hornets. Keeps the Bobcats vibe but gets our name back.

Then you have 3 choices of throwbacks through out the season. Old Teal/Purple Hornets, Bobcats and Cougars. Jersey and merch sales galore. and a happy compromise between the two warring parties.

Hornets fans can't complain because the buzz is being brought back... just not the the teal/purple. (at least not every night)

If they go to all of the trouble to bring the Hornets back, they better have the good sense to not dick around with the Purple and Teal.

If the Lakers can make Purple and Yellow wearable then we can (and have) make (made) Purple/Teal work.

I could be down with this. I prefer Teal & Purple but, wouldn't complain if they gave us the name and an updated look and maybe wore the old color scheme on "throwback Thursdays or "way back Wednesday" or something like that,

That would be smart from a merchandising perspective too as you would open up slot more different merchandise types and appeal to a broader spectrum of people..

I would buy both old & new color scheme merchandise.

I prefer Teal & Purple because it's unique, most teams have Blue, so I think it would be better to have a color combo unique to only Charlotte...but, I won't complain either way.

I am a Charlotte sports fan. Ive grown up here and this is my home. I was here for the Hornets and stuck with them until the end. I even pulled for those same players when they left. We then got the Bobcats and instantly the Hornets became the team I always wanted to beat...along with the Lakers. I love the Bobcats because they are my hometown team. I have always had the thinking put a winning product on the court and people will come no matter the name.

Now in saying that, all the more I keep seeing and hearing about the Charlotte Hornets the more I want it to happen. I first was apathetic to the name because I am a fan of the Bobcats and I never thought it would be a possibility. But now that it is my tune has changed. Im on the Charlotte Hornets bandwagon.

I know I will buy more Hornets gear but unfortunately I wont be attending more games. i will continue to stream from the internet every game bc im broke as a joke but dont ever want to miss a game even if we are getting our ass kicked.

You're right. and I like those colors too. I was just trying to throw a bone to the 6 people who would not buy tickets because its not Bobcats anymore.

Thats something we don't talk about enough when discussing this rebrand.

I know of one person who bought season tickets because they MIGHT change the name back to Hornets. I don't know a single person (and I better never meet one either) that will sell his season tickets, or stop going to games because they aren
t the Bobcats anymore. How are you gonna sit through 10 seasons of never having a winning season, and then all of a sudden abandon the team because they are the Hornets.

I know of two people who would quit getting their tickets (each has two season tickets). There may not be many, but there are some who felt betrayed by the Hornets and wouldn't associate with them.
