Hornets to change name 2013-2014 season

Slight change of direction from me. If the name does get changed. Do you think the team would go back to classic colours or keep the white, blue and orange?

I would prefer we keep the silver and two-tone blue that we have and replacing the minimal amounts of orange that we currently have with tiny traces of purple (like around the collar). I do think we could incorporate throwbacks and rock the old unis on special nights since at that time period, it was such a unique jersey.

If they stick with the current jerseys, I hope your right about replacing the Orange with Purple.. I think that would look much better.

From a marketing perspective I also think that makes some sense as they could sell the " new Hornets jerseys" and a shitload of the throwbacks.

Yes the Hornets did originate there, but then got sold and shipped off somewhere else. The franchise is called the Bobcats atm. The only thing the Hornets have to do with your franchise is they are both from the same city. Does that mean if the Knicks changed their name the Nets should use Knicks? Or if the Lakers went bust, the clippers should change?

1. Hornets was never "sold and shipped off" anywhere. There were many efforts made to keep the team and name in the city of Charlotte, where franchises have been named Hornets since the 1800's.

2. If the "Lakers" gave up there name, it'd belong in Minnesota, where it began and actually makes sense. Just like Jazz belongs in New Orleans, not Utah.

3. This isn't about a "name" or its affect on the abilities of the team, so much as a culture. Taking Hornets away from Charlotte is like taking away Steelers from Pittsburgh or 76ers from Philadelphia. Yes, it's "only" a name, but it reflects an attitude of the city that has existed LONG before the sports team took on such a name.

And as far as the uniforms go, it wouldn't be Hornets without the Purple, and the end of that wonderful traffic cone orange.

Im starting to think i should shut up about this as i am waaaaaaaaaaay out of my depth with it, maybe as this franchise/name thing is new to me as we dont have it in England (and the one time something similar happened it really didnt end well).

As for the uniforms. Would be nice for an more up to date version of the classic(i actually like the colours for the Bobcats but hey, maybe have the orange as a alt special shirt hehe)

I don't care as long as we stop looking like this bastard amalgamation of UNC and Duke.

Yeah, like I've said elsewhere, I love the new colors we have and I've never like the purple in the Hornets though I do love the teal. My compromise is to substitute teal for the light blue, and like you said, purple for the orange, while keeping the navy blue.

My main concern is about the logo. I must have the original logo, the one Gib uses for his avatar, or I will weep. That is just such a classic! And with my color compromise it would have the exact look...maybe have some silver outlining the wings.
